Panthers to meet with Breshad Perriman

One only has to look at history to know that no one outside the FO knows how Gman grades a prospect during anytime in the process, and won't know until the draft is done (if then).

Gman keeps his business as close to the vest as anyone in the league, and his charges in the FO respect him and the process to a fault. No analyst, reporter, blogger, message board member, or anyone that doesn't directly need to know will know how he grades a player, pre or post-workout.

This is the way it should be and has to be in his office. And if you think about it, it just makes sense (particularly when you draft late in a round, not that Gman is any different when he drafts at whatever position).

This is just the way it is. You only have to look at history and how Gman and the Panthers run their business to know that what I am saying is the absolute truth.

I mean..... isn't two years a pretty small sample size to jump to "absolute truth."

Perriman will be a bust if he's taken too early.  I've seen some mocks having him going to the Dolphins at 14.  He was a projected 3rd round pick before his blazing 40 time at his pro day.  He had a lot of drops in college and I smell another Troy Williamson...

That is a pretty good comparison. .

Not sure what projections you were looking at. Many mocks/analysts had him has a early-mid second round guy prior to his pro day.

Perriman started ascending toward the end of the season, climbing draftboards and was consdered a late first-early second pick well before the combine.

That's all you need with old school guys like Gettleman. He is all business!

On an off note, if someone would give you a million dollars to accurately predict whether Gman and his FO would leak anything more than general platitudes about likely picks and the order of Gman's draft board, or keep their detailed thoughts and analysis about the situation strictly in-house, I am assuming that you would pick the latter because I believe that most people who know how most GM's operate, much less the tight-lipped Dave Gettleman who never really gives specifics.

So

Just think how many times this has been said for the last month and all the evidence that has been given to support it.

At this point, people are obviously going to believe what they want, even if they are wrong.

I may be confusing what I think will happen with what I want to happen, but I've been getting a good feeling that there's a decent chance Parker could be there at 25 and Perriman's ridiculous rise is a main reason for that.

Would be awesome if that happened but I see lots of WR needy teams ahead of us and then those that would just go BPA and select him for that season. It could happen I suppose. Our best bet is a big run on pass-rushers and defensive guys which I think has a pretty good chance of happening. Unfortunately the Raiders need a WR, the Bears could go that route, Rams need a #1, Vikings may want to give Teddy a college teammate in Parker, Miami has been linked to just about every highly ranked WR, throw in the Browns twice... maybe even the Saints at 13 or the Niners. Obviously those teams have plenty of other needs but I see 4 receivers going before 25.

I agree it's a still kind of a long shot but one of the things I've been thinking is that because of the WR depth a lot of teams will opt to wait until the 2nd to fill their WR need and use their 1st round to draft a position that is much more top heavy like OT, CB and EDGE. You can get a WR in the 2nd or even 3rd that is much closer in ability to the 1st round guys than you can at the other positions. It maximizes value while hitting their needs which I think will be an appealing strategy for a bunch of teams.

That is a possibility.

Even if some teams draft receivers early there still seems to be enough of them where you could possible find some good players later.

1st - OT

2nd - DL or CB

3rd - Receiver

might yield better results then

1st - Receiver

2nd - OT

3rd - DL or CB
