Andrus Peat

Mr. Scot

Regarding his balance...he's like 6'7 right? Seems like it would naturally be harder to maintain balance for a guy his height vs. a shorter tackle's height (or maybe not).

How do the good really tall tackles overcome having a higher center of gravity?

In pass pro, most of it is bending down at the knees, not the waist. Head up and back straight. Shoulders and hips square to the opponent, then quick feet to mirror the opponent. When big guys get tired, tho, they start bending at the waist instead, which straightens their legs out and puts their head and shoulders farther out from their hips. That makes them off-balance and easier to get by or shoved to the ground.

I don't think it's necessarily an issue if we take Peat and he ends up being a RT, we are OT needy on both sides. Getting above average play on the right side last year made a huge difference in our lines overall play. Bell still sucked and the line still got better..we can't lose really no matter what side these guys project too.

I tell you why I like him.  His thighs are huge.  You are not bull rushing Andrus Peat.  Maybe you get around him, or maybe you get under him, but he also has long arms, making those 2 things more difficult.

I am not that sold on "Blind Side" playing the blind side.  After watch "More Cow" Bell playing the blind side, I realize the need for depth.  Peat would be solid depth or he would be the LT.  If he is the LT, then Oher and Remmers fight for the RT spot.  We are better at 2 positions, if Peat can step in at OT.

Do not forget, 20% of the players drafted to play LT in the first 19 picks of the last 2 NFL drafts were able to play LT with success--still too early to call them busts, but it takes time.   I seriously do not think we are drafting a T in the first round because I think Flowers and Peat will be gone.

I am in agreement, but I would not even call the RT play Remmers provided "above average."  He was not good in the run game, average to above average pass blocking.

When Cam can run the option, it tends to freeze the ends a bit.  I would like to see more draws, bootlegs, options, etc. to keep the DEs aware of their run responsibility.

My only concern with Peat is his readiness for the NFL. I don't expect all rookies to come in and dominate day one, but I think this regime is looking for players that can step in sooner, rather than later. It's ironic, because Gettleman has brought in FA and draftees with a focus on the future and not immediate gains.

I wouldn't be mad at Peat, but I'd put him in the same class as Ogbuehi and Clemmings as least likely to help the Panthers in 2015.

I still prefer Fisher, Collins and Humphries, but Peat would be after those gents.

Some games he looks doofy and lunges alot but after watching alot of film on him I can see he holds his owm against top pass rushers.

I compared him to other films I watched sherff, flowers and humpries.

Peat has looked better then everyone of those guys , he is still raw but he can start day 1 at lt.

RT power with LT feet.

I am not sure that Peats body type was born from the gym.  I dare say that if he was studying dentistry for the last 8 years, he would take the same big ass and legs to office each day knocking over the trays with all the little tools they stick in your mouth.  Joking, sort of, but I think his lateral movement is gonna hurt him big time as an LT
