Really?  Rivera the enforcer?  That's what you've gotten from all these seasons of watching Rivera?

Gameday Ron is likely not the same as practice Ron.  I haven't been to practice and seen personally, but I would imagine he is pretty intense.

Interested in him doesn't necessarily equate to definitely wanting him.

From the Observer (link)

PANTHERS EYE SWEARINGER: The Panthers are discussing whether to put in a claim for former Houston safety D.J. Swearinger, who was waived by the Texans on Monday, according to a source.

Swearinger, a second-round pick from South Carolina in 2013, started 23 games in two seasons with Houston. But his responsibilities changed last season under new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, who was hired along with first-year head coach Bill O'Brien in 2014.

The Texans had been trying to trade Swearinger, a big hitter who finished with 73 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles and two interceptions in 2014. Pro Football Focus ranked Swearinger 78 among 87 eligible safeties last season.

Swearinger went to Greenwood High in South Carolina, the same school that produced Panthers cornerback Josh Norman and former wideout Armanti Edwards.

I'd expect due diligence, but they may decide he's not worth claiming.

But even if they put one in, they're 25th in line, so...

He's a terrible fit for a cover 2. Goldson and Barron didn't work in Tampa and DJ is a worse version of those two. Not sure I understand it, but I don't see him making a positive impact there. He's cheap and they can dump him whenever they want with no repercussions so there's that I guess. No real risk involved.
