The Bears, who declined comment, are open to trading the 28-year-old Bennett because he's seeking a new contract and does not plan to show up in camp with Chicago, or anywhere else, without a new one, the sources said.

Any team trading for Bennett would probably want to sign him to an extension beyond the two years he has remaining on his current contract.

Bennett is coming off a career year in 2014 in which he topped all NFL tight ends in catches (90) and also set personal bests in receiving yards (1,038) and touchdowns (six).]

We got Olsen for a 3rd, I'd gladly give them a 3rd again for Bennett.

That would just be nasty, Bennett and Olsen locked up for next several years... A man can dream! We've seen what our offense can look like with 2 great TEs. Make it happen Gettleman, and figure out the money sitiation.

$8-10M per year?!  Wouldn't touch him.  He's about to be in the substance abuse program because there's no chance he's passing his next drug test.

Olsen, Clay and Cameron just got $7.5M and his year last year was right on par with Greg's(90 less yards, same TD's, 7 more catches) and he is 2 years younger.

Olsen is the much more proven producer though.  He's coming off of a 1000 yard season and has had three consecutive 800+ yard seasons.  You can also pencil in 5-6 TDs a year for him too.  Bennett only has one 800+ yard season in his entire career.  Olsen averaged 60+ yards per game last year and has averaged 50+ for three consecutive years.  Bennett has only 50+ypg once.

I guess it all comes down to what you think he can be in your system, but $8-10M per year would be STEEP.  You'd be making him one of the top 3-4 paid TEs in the league.

I'm realistic and realize this would never happen, but good lord almighty, those 2 TE sets would be ReDonk!

If I were the Saints though, this would be a no brainer unless they're just gonna replace one ||_|| TE for another

Saints can't afford his contract even with the most creative of deals. I'm sure they'd love to give up one of their 3rd's for him if they could though.

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
