Here's an idea:

He has played now in New York, Houston, and LA, the last two stops under the hype of "Linsanity."

According to his Facebook post, he wanted to go somewhere he was appreciated, and Clifford and Cho probably appreciated him for what he was now instead of lamenting that "Linsanity" was just an anomaly. What better way to get out of the spotlight and try to give yourself a fresh start than as a backup in a smaller market?
