Exactly. That's why Gettleman decided to let Hardy walk, even before the DV incident, by using the franchise tag. Letting Hardy go enabled us to climb out of the Hurney-created salary cap hell that much faster and will allow us to keep the rest of our young players at a reasonable value while maintaining a healthy cap space.
