According to this cap tracker we have close to $ 15  million available to spend.  Gettleman has done an outstanding job in the time he has been here.  We could still pick up a couple of very good players after cuts in those positions we need most.

We could (and should) extend Kuechly asap. Somewhere in the range of 5 years 55-57.5 million would be reasonable.

There's no need to, but if you have 8-10mil spare this season, its better to throw it into a guaranteed signing bonus to apply against this year's cap than lose it.

For example, there is no reason for a Reggie Wayne to go to Spartanburg and sweat it out in 98 degree heat. Maybe we scoop up a LT after camp. Wishful thinking.

it's possible, but not too realistic imo. DG just doesn't believe in spending large sums of money in that way. Besides, there are other fires to put out.

There are currently no such limit*, the jags are carrying over $21M from 2014.

*On a league bases a certain amount must be spent to honor the cba (so that the owner cannot just agree to spend $50M less each  year). That scenario would force a cap floor, but cap never goes away as that would mean the players are not getting what the cba guarantees them.

He's only going to get more expensive, and if you're in a situation where you can use existing cap space (that wouldn't have been used) to ameliorate the hit down the line you take the opportunity.

My guess is the money is being primed for Luke, there really aren't FA's out there that 1) we need, and 2) are worth throwing millions at.  We have the cap space now, so instead of losing it, I'm sure DG is planning on using it to pay the best LB in the game.
