Chris Houston Retiring...

I heard rumblings as such, thus was left off my final roster projection. A lot of folks blasted me for not putting him on there when he was signed. When you are out of football for a year at his age, making a comeback is extremely difficult.

Best of luck to him.

Meh, neither "retirement" is that weird.  I say "retirement" because as far as I know, Martin never actually turned in his paperwork to retire.  Houston was an aged vet in the twilight of his career trying to make a comeback.  My guess is that he simply saw that he could no longer hang or realized he no longer had the desire and hung up his cleats.  Nothing to be ashamed of there.  Jonathan Martin.. well, he's Jonathan Martin and that horse has been beat to death.  Nothing more needs to be said.

    • Could do better could do worse. I've seen some people very indignant over bringing him back and I can absolutely relate to the sentiment. But it's just in a backup role. He's also a good locker room presence and an effort player so for a 1 year rental in a year where we aren't going to do much it's fine. This is a development year. And there will be options if need be at the trade deadline. Besides at the end of the day we all knew a signing like this was around the corner after how drafting Mark Williams ended. He should have been our franchise center for the next several years. I don’t put that failure on the Hornets.
    • No one is upset.  And what I referred has been happening.   Patrick Mahomes has an offseason basketball clause in his contract.  A ton of other physical activites like jet skiing, baseball and all sorts of physical activities are written into his contract.  XL likely already has ATVs and stuff written into his contact.  League already has been inserting a lot of that stuff into basic contracts for non-top tier players and we have seen it pan out.
    • A payment for future production, puts him a cane for 9 seasons.
