Last three super bowl games.

2015:

0 pro bowl receivers, 0 1,000 yard receivers.

2014:

1 pro bowl receivers, 2 1,000 yard receivers (Both on the losing side that was embarrassed on national television)

2013:

0 pro bowl receivers, 1 1,000 yard receivers (Crabtree, surprisingly)

So out of six teams, there were a whopping three 1,000 yard receivers, two of them coming on the team that had one of the worst super bowls in nfl history. What did all the winners have in common? Top 15 Defense, and the majority of the contenders all had a top 5 running game. So instead of this panic crap, try and remember one receiver does not a season make, and defense wins championships.

If Stew can stay healthy for a whole season (hell, I'll take 12 games) and our O-line can dominate up front, we have a legit chance. Even just a top 10 rushing offense would be sufficient. However, just as we say this, Shula is in his office chalking up flea flickers to Cotchery and fly routes to Bersin. Dominant and Shula just don't seem to correlate.

Nice to read a positive post around here, it was getting depressing.

I've been telling anyone who will listen a similar story. Focus more on the run game with Sterwart, Artis-Payne, and sprinkle in some Cam designed runs. This will open up the play action to Ginn and Brown downfield.

All this is depending on improved o-line play and our defense getting off to a quick start like 2013. I'm cautiously optimistic so far.

I wish the Huddle would save the doom and gloom until we have some poor showings during games that count.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
