What if we lost WWII?

Always been a fan of historical fiction apparently the pilot for this has been out since January . Amazon released a trailer for the entire season last month. Will have to check it out and get the book.

This new Amazon show called "The Man in the High Castle" explores what would have happened if the Allies had lost World War II. It's based on a Philip K. Dick novel from 1962.

The hour-long drama stars Alexa Davalos ("Mob City"), Luke Kleintank ("Pretty Little Liars"), Rupert Evans ("The Village"), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa ("Mortal Kombat Legacy"), and Rufus Sewell  ("Eleventh Hour"). Ridley Scott is executive producer.

It streams on Amazon Prime this fall.

I highly recommend reading the book. There was suppose to be a follow up book for the series but there never was. There really is no true ending to the book, nothing is resolved, so I look forward to seeing how it plays out. I've been waiting for Amazon to put this series out ever since it aired during Pilot season.

I watched the pilot episode a few months ago when Amazon tested the waters on like seven or eight new shows. It was pretty good, but the production quality was clearly lacking. Hopefully they've got a bigger budget behind it now that they're producing a full season. I'm going to keep an eye out for it.

I read all the WorldWar books, where aliens show up to colonize Earth in 1942 and hilarity/chaos ensues. Love that stuff.

I love turtledove, especially the Videssos cycle, but I have to admit I wasn't a fan of that particular series.  Stopped after the first book.  Although the idea of aliens getting addicted to a Chinese spice was amusing.

the first few books are pretty good - one of the problems is that there are soooo many subplots, so a lot of the book is reviewing prior events and people to help keep everything straight. I am a big WWII history buff  and it was great to see a story that showed the events unfolding all over the world at a particular time.

    • Yes, but those guys aren't depth guard signings, they're likely going to wait and see who has injuries or players under performing and then sign there. I also think that if Ickey really is going to be able to play at some point this year, that's where our guard depth comes from.  As if he gets to the point of being active, we'd then have 3 LT's on the roster with him, Freeling, and Walker, gotta think one of them not named Freeling gets kicked inside if needed.
    • lol imagine being Hill and this is what your coach thinks about you replacing a guy giving up over 4 goals per game.
    • I don't think Tyreek is a bad player to play with on the field, for sure not in the same way that Diggs is, as he's a cancer on the field with how he acts, and wouldn't take kindly to being 2nd fiddle behind T-Mac. It's that Tyreek is just a terrible person who realistically shouldn't even be in the NFL, his insane athletic ability is why his off field transgressions have been overlooked.  If he was a WR3, no team would have kept him around, it was only that he was a 1st ballot HOF level talent that kept him around. Just zero interest in having a person like that around our young WRs, that's really all it comes down to for me with him. Again, if we were true contenders this year, that changes things and I'd rather bring in the best possible players and hope it works out.  But they're trying to build something here and to do that, you need high quality people, not just great talent.
