Former James Madison safety Dean Marlowe has made the Panthers 53-man roster, according to a source.

Not necessarily, Todman or Whitaker could be cut.  Fill the same role.

Eh, I can kind of see your point, but it is fairly moot. Ted Ginn just turned 30, but he has been running boys all up and down the field.

Jones is only 31, it's not as if we are trying to sign Jerry Rice off the street here.

Panthers waived undrafted WR Damiere Byrd, per source. Could come back on their practice squad if he clears waivers.

I haven't seen a ton of film on him, though I'm generally familiar with him. Can you elaborate a bit?

I just find it odd that a guy who has managed at least 600 yards/3 TD's the last 5 consecutive seasons isn't at least worth a look.

He has a rep for being an underachiever. And his being dumped by th last two teams who had him doesn't look good.

It's possible he gets another shot, but I'm fine if he doesn't (here, anyway).

I thought that was more out of necessity than because he was on the bubble.  They let go of Lee Ward already and Brockel was hurt so who else was there to play FB?

#Panthers interest in Marlowe this spring was very similar to Corey Brown in ’14. Would’ve used late pick, but then priority UDFA.

Who plays FB, Brockel? Why would we cut Ward? Tolbert is clutch on the goaline for the most part. 40 TD's in his career...

They used  a TE for the blocking and it actually turned out pretty good, this could be Brandon William's breakout season.

I thought about that later.  I also thought it was extra conditioning for his dwarfy fat ass.

There was speculation Brockel's injury could land him on IR.

I mean, Tolbert never really contributed as a "FB". Unless your definition of FB is just a fat dude who runs kinda fast and occasionally gets 3 yards. His blocking was never really great (check out his run blocking PFF numbers... Yikes.)
