USA Today: Cameron Artis Payne will be OROTY

Recommended Posts

Listen, unless Stew gets injured he's not getting benched with the kind of money he's making

Healthy he might not get benched but if CAP makes the most of his touches we may see a committee along the lines of DW and Stew in years past. It just doesn't make sense to take a back with with injury history and attempt to make him a bell cow for the whole season.

Apparently the USA writer is a Panther's fan.

CAP will not win OROY. That title belongs to Dorial Green-Beckham. In fact, CAP won't even be the best back drafted looking back, it will be Ajayi or Abdullah. Don't get me wrong, CAP will be a longtime starter and be the Stewart 2.0 we need him to be for many years, I just don't see him winning OROY. Lastly, I don't get the shiny new toy syndrome so many have on this board. We have a beast of a running back in Stewart. If he stays healthy all year, look for 1200 yards from him. Why would you hope he's benched?

Pretty sure I saw Ajayi was hurt.

Just because CAP had a great preseason doesn't mean Stewart is not a good back. In fact Stewart is top 10 RB. With a good line he is top 5 easily.

So if CAP keeps rolling like he did in the preseason then awesome, but he isn't going to supplant Stewart. Only way is if Stewart gets hurt, which is highly likely.

I think one of the areas people will be frustrated isn't rolled out as fans should think will the RB spot this year.  I can imagine a potential overuse of Tolbert limiting CAP and it will frustrate the board.  That is..until Ron eventual starts using him more on our annual late season streaks.

Last year with the OL we had just over 2,000 rushing yards.  I anticipate a little more around maybe 2,300 ish.

I'd love to see an end of year line around:

Stewart 1,000 yds - 8 tds

CAP 600 yds - 4 tds

Cam 400 yds - 6 tds

Wegher & Fozzy - 200 yds (Don't know who will be used more)

Tolbert - 100 yds (more utlity/short down stuff for him)

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
