The quote below is from BBR, great source for all kinds of inside information.

"Panthers TE Greg Olsen
RE: Devin Funchess’ catch in the fourth quarter

“I told them then and on the sideline after, I said, ‘That was the play of the game.’ We needed to go down, they just went down and scored, we needed to answer the drive. We were up four, so a touchdown would’ve been great. He made a great contested catch, took a big hit, got the 15-yard penalty. It’s a 25 to 30-yard play. I told him that’s the play of the game. Those plays in crunchtime and in the fourth quarter you just have to hang on and take those shots. That’s what were paid to do. For a young kid to come in, that was critical. I think he only caught that ball, but that was as big of a play that we had.”

How awesome is Greg Olsen? The guy had a career day, and he lifts up Funchess instead. Amazing player and leader.  I was getting some flack in a previous thread about sticking up for Funchess, so I'm glad that my position on Funchess is validated.

I just can't get over how awesome it is that Olsen is the type of player/man that he is.  He is the consummate professional

Greg is the best.

Ever since he's been here he's been a consummate pro. There isn't one national interview he's done in the past three years that hasn't asked about Cam's "maturity", and Olsen always props his QB up and never shys away from the question, although he's probably sick of answering it. I think he's been a huge part of Cam's development as a pro, and now he's helping guide Funchess and I'm sure Benjamin as well.

The Panthers make it a priority to have guys like this in the locker room, and I don't think their value can be overstated.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
