Jonathan Stewart | Keep Pounding

The Motto | We Came, We Saw , & We Conquered

What a statement victory by the Panthers and a momentum booster for the season. Like always the defense gave the Panthers a chance to win and the by the grace of the football gods the offense took advantage of opportunites and fought there way back to victory. Cam and Olsen sealed the game for the Panthers, but if it was not for the pounding runs by Stewart, the 80 yds scoring drives would not have been possible. Stewart ability to pass protect, catch the ball from the backfield and the aggressive running style seperates the offense from previous years (cough cough Deangelo Williams). Like Igo stated earlier the use of the power run game is whats going to seperate the Panthers from previous years, sprinkle in with zone read and TEs like Olsen &  Dickson will take this team deep in the postseason.

I have stated in preaseason that Panthers running game will be top 5  with Stewart passing 1,000 yds and I believe this is unfolding as season progresses. We wait for Daryl Williams!

Did Stewart's knees touch down on that play?  It looked to me like he was not down.  Too late now.

I've wondered the same thing, was very close. And right after while he was standing there someone punched the ball out. I haven't watched it in slow-mo yet but we might have got very lucky there.

The 1st few games, he was dancing behind the line instead of hitting the holes that were there. Seahawks game & he looks like the power RB we remember he is. He out-beasted Lynch lol. Props to Fozzy, too, for doing a good job spelling him too. Save the dancing for after scoring!

Shula does have one of the most complex run playbooks in the league. This is recognised by multiple analysts and ex-coaches and was clear at the end of last season when the oline had a chance to play together.

To pull off these sorts of schemes, with multiple guard and tackle pulls and stacked side runs, requires a lot of timing and gelling off the oline and RBs. To me it's natural that the running game will take off later in the season as the oline and rb get used to executing the complex run book.

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
