Panthers D: How much of it is Ron and how much of it is McDermott?

Ron ran cover 2 in Chicago and a 3-4 in SD, so this isn't necessarily his defense all the way as he has run different systems. This is closer to the Philly defense both guys ran back there. It's an effort of the entire staff as far as game planning and SM makes the calls during the game. So, it's the Panthers defense.

Owners or GM's don't say they want to hire a defensive minded head coach so that coach can then have little impact on the defense.  I would say Ron, more than any other individual not on the field, is most responsible for our defenses success, both from a schematic and preparation perspective and from a talent assessment and development perspective.

I say Sean but I think both have had a hand in it. Things like Ron sticking with Josh, sticking with Greg, think about what kind of difference makers they became (I know Greg isn't here, but think about the year he had in 2013).

We've been lucky.
