in the kendall wright thread, someone said it's a shame that we aren't facing them at their best and my response was the same as usual when i see that kind of statement, "why? they aren't facing us at our best" and just walked away from the thread.

today, for some reason, that thought hit me in a weird way.

we aren't playing at full strength.

we are without our #1 WR and #1 DE.

and we're 8-0.

just let that sink in.

I've been laughing at my coworkers this whole year because every week its the same crap.... I told them just like I told this Packers fan I met this week... we're only going to get better.

Packers fan told me Carolina is about to unravel. You know 3 days removed from losing to us. He kept harping on our 4th quarter collapses. I explained to him our coaches WILL make adjustments (ours really do learn from mistakes) BUT this is our defense without our best defensive end. We get him back for the Thanksgiving game. We have the easier half of our schedule to not only develop the cut throat mindset BUT to perfect our team.

Before I went into this he was talking about how he can't wait to play us again in the playoffs, I told him IF you get there, the Vikings are looking good. After I described how we're just going to get better he was sooooo pissed.

Yeah all the critics that say we havent played anyone at full strength have failed to realize we are without KB and CJ. Our #1 players at both positions. In conclusion, suck it.

These are the same type critics that say we have an easy schedule while they drool over Tom Brady's Uggs.  So, I decided to check out the big 3 in the NFL to compare schedules.  New England's matches pretty close to our schedule, and I would argue ours is slightly harder.  We both play the AFC South, NFC East, division strength is close to the same, we were on the road at Seattle, they get to go to Denver in a few weeks, and we had Green Bay while they hosted Pittsburgh in week one.

Cincinnati's on the surface looks to be the hardest, but with the down year the other teams in the AFC North are having it's debateable.  They have both AFC and NFC West divisions.  Arizona, St. Louis, and Denver still on the schedule. I'll be thoroughly impressed if they make it out of Glendale and Denver without at least one loss. Finishing 2nd in the division last year afforded them some easier competition in Houston and Buffalo.

So yeah, IMHO anyone who argues our SOS will have a hard time convincing me that ours is any less impressive than the other two teams that are currently undefeated.

How about our stud rookie RT?  PFF's best OT IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE this preseason.  KB, Big Money, Luke, Star, Shaq, TD, KK, Williams, Allen, Klein, Alexander, Cotchery, Kalil, Norwell, et al (Chandler, Hill) have all been on the injury report, missed a game, or missed the entire season.  Boo bloody hoo azzhole fans of other teams.  #Keep Pounding

this is a bit of a stretch but furthermore our second round pick missed nearly the entire offseason ( a critical learning period for rookies)

First round pick too.  School, hamstring, etc.. Not to mention having to focus on the nuances of one position which he did not do in college.

I don't recall Funch missing much this offseason... Am I just getting old?

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
