Our D was questionable in the secondary, our D line got no pressure, and this was the height of the Trgovac hate train, since our team was soft as poo outside the redzone (bend don't break, how I don't miss you), but the offense was ridiculous.  Two starting top 10 RBs, Steve Smith before he started losing a step, the return of Moose, best OL in the NFL.  Jeff King was eh...and then, of course, Jake.

But even without Jake imploding, I was worried about our secondary going into the playoffs.  I remember the huge fan push to get Nnamdi Asomugha opposite Chris Gamble.

I still have nightmares of Ken Lucas.  I don't think I have ever seen a corner get burned more than he did in the second half of that season.

If the Panthers only had a better QB that year they might've gone all the way. That team was so talented in 2008.

The defense was falling apart in the 2nd half of the season...i still have nam flashbacks to how bad the run defense got shredded in the giants and falcons games. Also, we had john fox who decided that putting a shutdown corner on larry fitzgerald was an awful idea and that it would be much better to let him pick which DB he wanted to burn every time.

Anybody remember the game against Atlanta at the end of 2005? The Panthers were striving for a wildcard berth. Delhomme was eventually pulled out because it was such a bloodbath. DeShaun Foster had an 80 yard touchdown run. Ricky Manning Jr had a fumble return for a TD. The Falcons had no answer for Steve Smith. Every time the Panthers got the ball they drove down the field and got points. This was the year that John Fox finally figured out how to contain Michael Vick.
