How that was not a helmet to helmet hit I will never understand. So many people saying the refs saved us cause of like 1 fuggin 12 men in the huddle. Like gtfoh the ball bounced the Aints way every way possible, there were so many bad calls on us and no calls on them.

Literally the Panthers vs the world. fug em all

No helmet to helmet on a runner, which Cam was. Once he crosses the LOS the protection is gone.

You are mistaken. ANY hit on any player that is clearly targeted at the head or neck area is a penalty. It's a judgment call that the ref makes, depending on the situation. QBs in the pocket get it every time, as do defenseless receivers, but runners can also draw the penalty.

I keep hearing people say time and again that Newton will never make it in the NFL because he gets hit too much.

He took a pounding, to the body, to the legs, to the head today... HE THREW 5 TOUCHDOWN PASSES.

Cam Newton falls OUTSIDE of your standard NFL Venn diagram, bitches.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
