Frank Garcia calls Bene Benwikere "a JAG"

I'm listening live... its a Valid statement.

Bene is good but he isn't a shutdown guy. We as fans tend to value our guys more than they really are worth. Do we have a guy that can step in and there will not be a drop off? More than likely not. Can we have a guy come in and plug the hole? More than likely.

Very valid statement.  50% of the nfl players are average compared to each other.  25% are in tiers from very good to elite.  the other 25% are varying levels of bad from below average to bad.

Bene falls into the 50% of average players.  Remember he's not really our starting CB.  Tillman is.  Bene was the nickle before Peanuts injury.

Bene is good and he's doing a good job but he's a guy that DG could replace at the end of the year if he chooses to.

It's more about chemistry and communication at this point. I think it's dumb for anyone to say he's just a guy.

Do I hope his replacement plays to his level or better? Of course, and we all do. Bene will be missed regardless.

Communication and experience are paramount in any secondary. With him gone we're likely to see some missed assignments which is unfortunate

    • Most teams OLs are dealing with injuries at the end of the season. So by that token all QB play should be horrific across the board, but it's not.  Using the OL as an excuse anytime a QB plays bad is just lazy.  This is the same OL when Bryce had his good games not so long ago.  So do they suck just when Bryce does bad? Obviously they played well enough when y'all were doing your victory laps and saying 'you told us Bryce was the man' in the victories. It goes back to my stance with Bryce all along...he's a low end starting QB.  He'd be a great backup. Bryce is going to have a few really nice games a season at this point in his career, with a few WTF games mixed in, but very middling overall.
    • Good Lord! I bet the O-line play wasn't the worst since 1980.  And @thebdawg, injuries absolutely can make for a bad showing at the end of the day. That's not an excuse, it's just a fact.
    • Defense stepped up after that and held them to a FG. Offense proceeded to turn it over on downs right after.  Was it an incredibly dumb penalty, of course it was. The defense played their asses off though and got zero help from the offense. If you force them to punt at that point instead of the penalty do you really think the offense does anything differently?
