Did Coughlin leak his gameplan?

So...I encourage everyone to go to Giants.com and listen to Coughlin's presser.

Maybe I am reading too much into it but it struck me as odd for some reason.  TC starts praising Norman and at the tail end says "he has had a tremendous year matched up against opposing 1s at least until he goes into the slot". Reporter then comments, "he doesn't go into the slot".

I don't follow TC. But something about the conversation and tone of the exchange made it sound like having Beckham in the slot all game will be exactly what the NYGs do....just found it interesting TC made a point to mention he hasn't done his work in the slot.  Reporters picked up on it too and followed up about it and he dismissed it but I just found it odd he went there...maybe he didn't intend to say that much

so if that is the game plan, history would suggest Norman wouldn't go to the slot.  Hasn't followed Julio or others there.

So so if the NYGs do that....and do it heavy...will Carolina wait until the NYGs torch us before we see Norman attempt his first slot action? Will it take multiple receptions? Will they simply choose to stay the course and not put Norman there at all? Not all teams have a Norman after all and the Giants so have a losing record?

Will a very interesting matchup.  Given Manning is playing better than Ryan....Odell will be the most dangerous weapon of the year we will face.

Although we are thin at Nickel, we do have good play from safeties and LBs.  I think if we see a lot of Odell in the slot, he's going to face some tough jams by TD and Shaq, I'd then expect a safety to cover his area deep.  If Odell catches it between the LBs and safeties... he can do that... he's gonna accumulate some really nasty hits though.

Honestly, even if Odell burns us I don't think it's enough firepower for the Giants to beat us.  We WILL get a few turnovers.  I fully expect Cam and Co to smash their joke of a defense as well.

    • I'll say 6. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition and will do more to help the defense than anyone. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole there. For all the hype surrounding Sanders and Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
    • 2010 was worse. Not much worse but worse.
    • Lol since 2017 the Panthers are 47-85,    Also since 2017 the Giants are 40-91-1   Lol
