Panthers Honor Protection Brigade? LOL

top dawg

Recommended Posts

It's official. Panthers fans are now legendary, as another member of the national media indirectly references our zeal in the defense and honor of our team.

In his fearless forecast, Dan Hanzus lets his doubt get the best of him, trumpeting history (while whispering the absence of J-Stew) as the primary reason we will be defeated by the Giants this Sunday. Obviously he isn't being rational from a statistical or anecdotal perspective of the analysis of the two teams.

"Calm down, gallant knights of the PanthersHonor Protection Brigade. This is not about a lack of respect for football's perfect team or a deep-seated belief that Cam is not elite. I just don't think the Panthers will go 16-0. History is instructive, and there's a reason only one team has gone 16 for 16."

I predict that in the history of the Panthers' 2015 season, the Giants will be but another footnote---midgets.

Just like Hanzus has so boldly skipped over our superiority,  you can skip over his call to calm down.

He knows what's coming. He really asked for it. Give it to him.

I'd rather we didn't cement our new reputation as the whiniest fan base in the NFL. No matter how successful we are there will always be doubters. We could win the next 3 Super Bowls, not losing a single and there would be people saying that the next game just to be contrarian or because "it's time they lost a game." It's time to enjoy the ride and drop the persecution complex.

We have a looooooong way to go to take the title of whiniest fan base from the fans of the Cowboys, Eagles, Jets, 9ers, Patriots, and a dozen others. It'll take decades before we crack the top half of the league.

If it's just a writer's opinion, I let it slide. But if it's Dave Newton telling me CJ is a RDE when he's been a LDE his whole career or Skip Bayless telling us Bene will be the weak link the Giants should attack, then we have a responsibility to call those idiots out and shame them publicly for obviously not doing their homework on the Panthers.

In the same article Conner Orr predicts a Panthers win with Fozzy running wild.  Is that guy off his meds or something?

He doesn't like either team actually .. it was a toss up .. if you listened to around the nfl's podcast about the falcons recap he even stated it

I think the TN Titan fans and coaches claimed that title after Dancegate

I wouldn't characterize it as "persecution complex" as much as I think of it as keeping bozos honest in the face of weak rationale for choosing us to be defeated when the preponderance of evidence suggests otherwise.

"I just don't think the Panthers will go 16-0 (and this is really the only game out of their last three that I think they might actually lose)"

All these guys keep forgetting to add that 2nd part. Unless of course he means he'll be arbitrarily picking against the Panthers until they do lose with his only reason being "because history".

From a historical point of view he is right. Then again the Panthers are rewriting our franchise history with each game. Why not rewrite NFL history in the process. Besides using their logic, you know someone will eventually go 19-0, sooner or later. I just hope it is sooner.

After all, who in the NFC is better than we are in December? I just want to be great in January and February  as well.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
