Kroenke points to Cam as a model for the L.A. Rams

Interesting... could we be seeing a hint that Kroenke wants to have a mobile QB lead his newly relocated franchise?

Linky thingy

No.

Sounds like he just wanted a great QB/#1 pick that panned out, and could lead a franchise. LOL

I guess this is his excuse going to LA. Cause he couldn't field a winner in St Louis, due to Sam Bradford? LOL

He tipped his hand is what he did. I think they're gonna tank on purpose next year in order to get Watson. If they don't tank, he sounds like he'd break the bank to trade up.

Yeah I can see that happening. Will probably sign a journeyman QB and take their shot at Watson next year.

I think what multi-billionaire Stan fails to recognize is that we all see him moving his team to LA for what it is. On paper, his franchise is worth more in LA than in St. Louis. Stan's comments on Cam/Bradford are correct, but if his organization would have put in the work to draft and build the right players, he could have in St. Louis what we have in Carolina. Personally, I don't think he's equipped to run his organization like a football team, you can't expect what happens in the business world (where he's obviously been successful) to translate to putting a successful team on the field, but what do I know, he's a billionaire and I just had to make my own coffee.

Everyone looks at Newton now and talks about missing on a number1 pick and how Bradford wasn't as good as Cam but folks forget many folks thought Cam wasn't a first round guy and would be a huge bust. He wasn't considered the best guy in the draft by Mayock ad all the experts. Bradford was considered a much surer pick when he came  out with the only concern being injury given how he got hurt in college. The spectre of the colossal failures of Russell and Vince Young hung heavy when we picked Cam. He has surely turned all that around.. Revisionist history is funny how it changes. He was going to be a huge gamble and bust and now is the model of the quintessential quarterback everyone is looking for.

He's the worst owner in pro sports right now. Just look at the Nuggets, Avalanche, and Arsenal Gunners in England for examples.

He's a real estate developer and nothing more.

Kroenke owns all those teams too?

With all due respect; this is so greatly exaggerated and a lie. It's been said before.

Mike Mayock, Nolan N, etc., are not NFL people. But somehow we seem to pay more attention them (I guess cause most of us have no access to NFL people, and they don't talk or give their picks, ideas to media or faux draft "experts), even after the fact. LOL

NFL people (and their scouting and investigation services) wholeheartedly disagreed with your statement.

This is what's hard to sink in for so many people here on The Huddle: TV guys-like Mayock (albeit experienced) were saying one thing. However, NFL teams and their scouting and investigation services (who actually did the interviews, background checks and broke down film, etc.) had another opinion. There was a reason why Newton was the #1 pick. And he was the consensus #1 pick by the time the draft rolled around. We can't help it, if TV people wanted to play up Blaine Gabbert, or hold onto unproven lies for their own reasons or ratings.

So when Rivera says 'we broke down film and saw NFL throws'. 'We saw most of his runs were called runs, and he stood in the pocket'. 'All his coaches through out his career loved him; talking about how hard a worker he was'. 'And he's grown up as a young man', etc. It wasn't the Panthers only. They got a lot of this from the NFL scouting pool. I read some of these myself.

There was no excitement with the Sam Bradford pick. He was just a #1 pick by default. However, even knuckleheads like Mel Kiper (to quote a TV guy/faux draft analysts as you did) said about Newton: 'he has the talent to be the best QB ever'. We never heard anyone say anything even remotely close about Bradford. Of course, Kiper indicated Newton could also be a bust. But that's because many of the "character" issues with Newton were totally unfounded under any scrutiny or cursory background checks. And this is exactly what NFL people did and found when looking into Newton's throwing, playing calling, relationship and coach ability. It was almost like an alternate universe. So never confuse TV people with NFL people.

So the "risk" in Newton, was mainly in all the lies so many unknowing TV guys were spouting.

I know Huddler's love to complain about Newton and his lack of respect or whatever. We've all done it; including me. But he wasn't nearly as bad a draft pick as many want us to believe. That's just not true, and revisionist history in it's own right.

Yes, but Arsenal is a REALLY bad example to his point. They're top of the table in England as of right now. Unless you're blaming Kroenke for the players they've brought in during the transfer windows, which would be stupid.
