So, I Found The Reporter That Tried To Start A Controversy With Cam

Someone then asks Cam to back it up.. twice. Then wrote about his reaction to it as if it was from the elaborate question.

No, he wrote the exact reaction Cam had to the elaborate comment

I jumped in and asked Newton why he couldn’t elaborate on his words from a week earlier. Did he believe there’s still somewhat of a stereotype that says black, mobile quarterbacks cannot throw in the pocket effectively?

“We shattered that a long time ago,” he said, a sheepish smile on his face.

It was 2 different reporters, but Jerry Sullivan was the one who jumped in and told Cam to "back it up."

So then who asked the original question?  Because to me, the voice that asked the question and the voice that asked to elaborate sounded the same.  But like I said earlier, the voice that said to back it up was different.  According to this guy's article, he is the one who asked the question and he is the one who asked him to elaborate.

I kind of see a bunch of something made here about nothing.

How do you know this? Do you know Mr. Sullivan personally and know his voice well enough to distinguish? Sullivan says in the article he was the one who made the elaborate comment and doesn't mention the back it up comment. Why in the hell would you randomly assume that he's lying?

Asking someone to back it up is asking for elaboration in my book, but what do I know? I'm socially unaware.

Guess I am too. The question is, why the fug am I even wasting my time on this? I mean it beats working but still...

Yes, he was. It is a reporter's job to get down to the bottom of things rather you or anyone else likes it or not. If you make a statement, it's not unheard of for someone to ask you to "back it up" or elaborate.

I am not going to assume that Sullivan understood what Cam meant meant, but even if he did, there are plenty of people across this country who may not have known what Cam meant, so asking him to elaborate was not out of order.

You're trying to support someone who even the fans from his area say is a hack... You're saying that you're not going to assume, but you're assuming that the reporter was doing his job and not being an eggplant.

Great. I'm trying to help you out so you don't continue accusing people behind their back of lacking integrity without backing it up with facts. If you want to continue doing so, then so be it. Have a nice day.

There was an initial reporter that asked a question.

(on what he wants his legacy to be as a black quarterback)

Cam answered that question and then Jerry Sullivan piggy backed off that initial question with two follow up questions.

(on the stereotype of black quarterbacks not being able to play from the pocket)

“I think we shattered that a long time ago.”

(on stereotypes around black quarterbacks being an issue)

“It’s not an issue. It’s an issue for you.”

There was no "elaborate" comment, only the "back it up" comment. No one asked Cam to elaborate, this Sullivan guy changed the story when he wrote it to "elaborate".

That's what reporters do (and more). So, no, I'm not assuming anything. Furthermore, I am sure that Jerry Sullivan did not get where he is from being a hack. Moreover, if you look closer at his career you will see that he has at least one award. Saying that a fan from an area thinks that someone is a hack goes along with the business. Anyone who knows the industry, and life in general, knows that you can't please everyone all the time.

To me it's really a non-story, the real story being the larger issue that was addressed in his article---which in my "socially unaware" opinion is worth reporting about.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
