Is WFNZ in trouble?

I'm one of those that enjoys listening to WFNZ - although Marc James almost broke me.

As I have been listening lately, it is nerve wracking to hear station promos (not ads, just clips of their shows) repeating themselves - over and over and over and over and over and over.  Some track back to much earlier in the season.  I get that promos can't be cut daily, but the staleness is getting ridiculous. I keep waiting to hear a clip of the Gettysburg address. i have also heard callers referring to it, the host at the time got ticked and cut them off.

I don't know the radio business, but it seems like they would do anything to avoid replaying these clips if they had something else to run - like more ads.  I would have assumed that advertisers would have been flocking to them during the championship run, but doesn't seem that way.  This practice of repetition, coupled with them going off the air in my area (I listen via the app now) has me wondering if the are in trouble.

I'm not sharing to get people to trash hosts or guests, just wanted to know if they are going to be with us in the future.

I pretty sure they're fine.  But I'm sure local terrestrial radio is suffering a little with satellite and podcast. But I think there is always demand for local sports talk radio.

But what I do fine is the funny is the show promo for The Call-Up. The guy doing the promo makes it seem like Colin and Nate have met their life goal of being Mid-Day sports talk radio host.

Lol the app receives a different ad allotment than the live radio station gets. It's mainly PSAs and promos of their own shows on the app, but you get the regular ads if you listen to it through an actual radio. Why that is I have no idea, but it's always been like that. As far as I know, their ratings are fine, The Mac Attack just made some prestigious list a couple of months ago. I know Kroeger was dropped by a Winston-Salem affiliate many months back, but that's the only actual negative thing I know of.

And fug Marc James and his wack ass Matt Ryan jock sniffing self.

730 had a car drive into their studio Monday. Not suprised if you see where they're located on Morehead.

Why do they ask stupid questions like this:

Why would Cam lose endorsements because he walked out of a press conference?

It's pretty silly to even think that would happen.

It's to generate discussion and callers. If nobody calls then no show.

Most of the media is trying to get your attention and will do literally anything.

Dateline once faked a crash test on a car. They didn't do it becaue they didn't like the car. They know how to stir the pot.

You just inadvertently helped Franks show.

I stream it sometimes here in Raleigh, but dont know everyone's names, maybe u guys can help me out.

I like the early morning guys, but the guys on 10-12 today I just had to turn it off.  I think one of the guys is a Patriots fan

That would be Colin and Nate. Colin is a Panthers fan, but Nathan Conley is annoying as hell during football season because of his Patriots love. At least Nate isn't as bad as Marc James or Brett Jensen though because he's only annoying during football season. MJ and BJ were annoying 365 days a year.

I think people get annoyed by the fact that most of the hosts aren't Panthers fans and they let too many non-Panther fans call in.  College basketball season is boring as well.  I used to listen a lot but got bored.  The morning guys aren't bad sometimes though.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
