Huh.  I remember a lot of people wanting to take him #9 back in 2012... instead we drafted "another linebacker" in that Luke Kuechly guy.

Now we could end up with both.  Funny how things work.

It would be even more strange if we ended up with Mark Barron as well since he's also a FA. It was rumored he would've been our pick had he not landed in Tampa just like Coples probably would've been our pick had Kuechly gone before #9.

Charles Johnson is freaking 29 years old, that's prime.  He was hurt in week 3 last year, and took a while to return to form--it's not him getting old.  I will be surprised if he's not back to form next season.

Coples is going to be quality depth for us at the very least.  With a healthy Johnson and Ealy in his third year, we're looking pretty good on the line.

I truly don't think Coples should prevent Hayes or anyone else in addition to.

Not enough money to go around to bring in two mid priced DEs really when we have holes to fill at SS, CB(even with Josh getting tagged) and then to re-sign our FAs like Tolbert, Nortman, Love, Webb and RFA tender Remmers. Gettleman wants a complete roster that could ostensibly play the season before the draft even begins and several openings that need to be filled. We could bring in two DEs like Coples and Hayes but at that point Gettleman would have to go pure bargain bin to get a S and CB rather than mid-tier.

Would love Matt Kalil too.

for the right price I'd love it. I know Rivera liked him coming out of College and the guy has the ability to play DE and on passing downs DT.

We could be in good shape going into next season with Kony, Coples, Addison, Horton, Delaire and Draft pick

The guy is 6'6" and 290, sounds like a prototype LE build. Bring CJ back, Ealy starting a gain at RE, with the ability to line Coples up inside at DT with Short on passing downs, along with spelling CJ and Ealy.

Gotta admit that sounds enticing, factor in another DE in the first two days, or one of the PS squad guys developing and we could be in good shape in regards to the pass rush again.

He has spent his whole career on the right side and Kony was way better at LDE than he was at RDE this year. His production picked way up when CJ went down, Allen was brought in and he got flipped to the left.

Who is the "he" you're referring to?

Ealy moved to LE due to 1)Charles Johnson injury, 2) Jared being a HOF player at RE, you're not gonna move Jared...

Fast forward to everyone being healthy and the DL IMO would look like :

Ealy/Lotulelei/Short/Johnson >>>> that's right to left. I see Coples as spelling both the LE/RE, but Addison IMO is the back up RE, so I think Coples (if signed) would be penciled in at #2 LE.

He is Kony. Yes that's why he moved but he was also much better from that side so why the hell would you move him back? Also, CJ is 95% gone.
