He's been wonderful for the 4 years we had him, but his time was up and it showed this year. Age catches up to everyone. Best of luck to him in the future.

Something is coming down the pipe....I don't know it is but I have a feeling it is something substantial.  Not saying it will be a splash signing but something different is coming.

Expect them to re-sign Love, probably sign Coples, and definitely draft a DT or DE or three.  We're loading up on D-Line this offseason no question.

Certainly a possibility, but given the timing it would probably be one of those situations where we informed him that he was going to be released and he decided to just retire.

That is a good point by you. We are losing a lot of veteran leadership. Star and Short need to continue playing at their skill level and Kony needs to step up. 

This draft is going to be real heavy when it comes to DT and DE.

Hope he retired. That would save us $2.1 million under the cap. If he was cut, it would save us $1.6 million.

I'd really rather not go after the guy's $500k in prorated signing bonus. That's a dick move to do to an older veteran who gave everything he had for 4 years.

So, here's what the DT situation looks like at the moment.  Assume we will do everything necessary to resign Love.  The comment below the table was my assessment from about Feb 10th when I created the 2016 Roster Building thread.  Knowing it was a DT deep draft, Edwards' release / retirement seemed highly possible.
