*Moving to San Diego (Solana Beach)

Anyone lived there before?  I've got an opportunity near Solana Beach that came up and it looks like I may be out of Denver in the coming months.

The cost of living seems high but I'm used to it living most recently in DC and now Denver.  Just to add on--a lot of peeps that know me well from Cali or have lived there think I'd love it but the closest I've ever been is Dana Point.

So, I'm looking to see what y'all think of it and whatnot.  Peace.

It'll be the best decision you have ever made. especially Solana Beach. It's s little surfer suburb that is about 25-30 minutes from the hustle of the actual city.

It's right next to Del Mar, which is super rich and full of fine dining.

You will have the best Mexican food and best craft beer you can imagine.

People here can tend to be pompous ass holes in the rich area, but for the most part everyone is super chill. Like, stereotypical stoned surfer chill.

A couple things to note:

- public transportation here is a complete joke.

- the cost of living is high

- you pay for the weather

- I didn't wear a jacket once this year

- I went to the beach this morning, I'm gonna be there again tomorrow morning.

- sunset on the west coast in a Mediterranean climate is out of this world.

- miss the snow? Hour drive away to snowboard

- wanna get your actual bro on? Hour drive to the dunes.

- want the best sea food? Short drive to Peurto Nueva (Mexico)

- may be one of the more culturally diverse cities outside of LA

- you just won at life

Ok, now I'm excited haha.  I mean Denver has been awesome and I feel I've finally settled in but if I land an offer, it's going to be too good to pass up.  I'm still close to skiing/boaridng spots and at the beach.

San Diego is awesome, never personally lived there but my buddy went to UCSD so I made the commute from LA to SD quite often.

The Mexican food is stop notch.

The craft beer is top notch.

The beaches are top notch.

And of course the women are top notch.

thats all I got for you, @OnlyPantherFaninMaine and @jayflip have both lived/currently live in SD.

When I'm flown out in 2 weeks, I may try to swing by Ballast Point or Green Flash if I have the time.

Go to the Ballast in Little Italy. It's unreal.

You'll get to try the special casks and flavor combos every week that no one else in the country will get to try.

I was born and raised in SD. Lived there until 1993 when I moved east. I grew up and lived in the Pt. Loma area, lived in Mission and Ocean Beach areas when I was in the Navy. Served on the Ocean Beach Town Council for a couple terms until I moved to the North County- Encinitas, where I lived from 1987-1993. The worst thing about living in the North County was my commute into the city every day. Huge ball suck there. But I was getting ready to retire from the Navy and I was still competing in triathlons and there was no better place to ride, swim and train than North County.

Any way, I loved it there and am proud to call it my home town. But it just got way too crowded for me and as close to retirement as I was, I knew I couldn't afford to live there on a pension and I wasn't sure what I was going to do after my Navy career was over.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
