Good article by David Newton (no, for real)

"Newton's 2016 cap value ranks 10th among quarterbacks at $19.5 million.

He ranks behind New Orleans' Drew Brees ($30 million), Manning ($24.2 million), Roethlisberger ($23.95 million), Atlanta's Matt Ryan ($23.75 million), Flacco ($22.55 million), Detroit's Matthew Stafford ($22.5 million), Rivers ($21 million), Dallas' Tony Romo ($20,835,000) and Washington's Kirk Cousins($19,953,000)."

Damn, I love G-man. MVP less of a hit that Stafford, Romo, Ryan, Manning (the sucky one), and Kirk frikin Cousins.  Ha!

Extending Cam last year and adding a $7.5 million roster bonus to the last year of his rookie deal (2015) helped a lot. The next five years he will make $19.5 million, $21.167 m, $21.5 m, $23.2 m, and $21.1 million. Even Cam's most expensive year of $23.2 million is still below Breesus, Eli, Rapelisberger, and Matty Icemelt's earnings this year

Gettleman's earning the letters GM in his name

I also credit Rivera and staff for creating an atmosphere these guys take pride in and want to be a part of. The things you have seen take place with our FAs and the words you hear from Jarred Allen are a direct result of this. The next time you hear someone trumpeting some jackass  to join the team realize what an important role team class and chemistry plays.

How incredible to be a fan of a team where I love and root for the GM just about as hard as I root for the biggest stars among the players!

DG is a rockstar.

Gettlemans a blessing for this team hes hands down the best gm in the nfl and turned us around big time.  Cant wait to see who we pick for the draft

He was in the first year of his deal. Most of those players are not.

You do realise that newer contracts usually mean more money thanks to inflation and an ever rising Cap. He signed a deal comparable to Matt Ryans, and that contract was written 2 years prior. After Cams MVP season its a flippen bargain. Cant wait to see what Luck signs for. Irsey was already prepping the fan base for some biggest mega contract ever, like thats something to be proud over.

re: an actual good article from david newton, he's a good writer. just don't expect him to know what he's talking about when it comes to things happening on the field. he only knows what those people actually watching and who know what they are talking about who aren't tired of answering "what just happened?" tell him.

about this article....yeah, makes me all kind of happy. hurney magic would have had him the top paid every year and/or backloaded to the point of crippling the team. this isn't a trash hurney comment, just a happy comment that we don't have a guy that feels it necessary to overpay and doesn't have us in the situation that the saints are in. i love being on the outside looking in at that contractual dumpster fire.

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
