Denver's Cap Space?

I really wasn't making fun of Denver.  I was just surprised at how few players they have signed and how little cap space they have.  It will be interesting to see how they work out of it.

Now I DO admit I've been making fun of New Orleans... that team is a train wreck and fun to mock.

I am happy with our roster and direction. My point was simply directed at those that want to make fun of a team in worse cap situations than ours that has just won the Super Bowl by posting this type of thread. Oh look at them, they've got next to no cap space and need to signs loads of players, let's make fun of them. It's part of message boards and I get that, heck Id even be willing to partake, but the team has just won a Super Bowl and I think their fans would be happy to accept a few quiet years (if that happens) after the run they've been on these past four years.

Essentially they've had a great four year run with Peyton. Will it hurt them long term? Perhaps. But I don't think anyone in their right mind would go back in a time machine and have them not sign Peyton and go with Brock Osweiler instead.

I agree that no one can compare to Cam, but that doesn't mean he'll definitely return and win multiple rings. Right now he's tough to stop on his day, but the Broncos managed to stop him in the Super Bowl. So that shows Cam can be stopped, and if other teams can replicate that - especially in the play offs - then we might not be back. I think we will, but it's not easy. Look at A-Rod, never been back but he's been one of the best QBs every year. Sometimes you get one shot.

The question was would I trade what they have for what we have.  The answer is FFF...no.  The odds of us getting over the hump multiple times are far greater than the perfect storm of chit in Santa Clara in February 2016 repeatedly happening.

Ironically btw Denver DID in fact flat out suck bad enough to get Von Miller.  Only one team has him.  That cost (as well as the ungodly cost to keep him) ain't free.

See that is the main crux of your argument. You want what others have, without putting in the work to get there. You have to take the good with the bad. That is life. You can't hit the reset button every time something goes wrong.

And who cares about records? Who cares about what others are doing? We are doing just fine. We have a young team with GREAT leadership. Things look great here in Pantherland. And it ain't going away any time soon. This sh(t gon get serious up in here. And a lot of folks see a bright future as well.

I wouldn't trade that for a boat load of your "But they already won one" poo.

If someone said you can have a great four or five year run, win a championship, with Peyton Manning. But then have to suffer a rebuild/reboot for a few seasons, then I'd happily take that.

Equally if someone said you can build what we have here and be a long term contender. I'd happily take that.

What I'm saying is we shouldn't be so quick to mock another team's situation that actually got the job done and brought home the Lombardi because I'm pretty certain they'd rather be in their situation than ours because they have that shiny trophy and a fairly talented roster to build their next run on.

I would be totally surprised if we aren't the odds on favorites this year. And for the foreseeable future. We going to be the team to beat for a while. Cool.

We played like it was our 1st SupeB owl. That will not happen again.

We certainly did, but the Broncos showed how to shut down Cam Newton. Would that happen every game? Nope. But after one of the most dominant years they showed that shutting down Cam is possible.

I hope you're right that it won't happen again, and if we do it next year, I think we'd be the first team to lose and return the following year and win it.

Our front office is building this team to be in contention every year, not just this year. No way in hell I'd trade that to build a one-year wonder that isn't guaranteed anything.

After 3 NFC South titles in a row and a Superb Owl appearance, I believe the plan has been up and fully operational for longer than any of us have realized. Stay true to the recipe and we're in for something special.

Because winning that Lombardi is the pinnacle.

i disagree.

dynasty is the pinnacle.

winning just one would be great and all, but i have very little interest in being a one and done. i want them all. call me greedy, but i want to win them all. i want us to go to the superbowl every year. i want the success that the pats have had to pale in comparison. losing the first wasn't a great start, but it was a start.

we were slow to learn how to win, but i said early on that once we figure out how to win, we are going to be hard to stop and that's exactly what has happened.

the same thing is going to happen with superbowl runs.

this whole notion of throwing it all in on one run and hoping you make it....meh. let some other team pull that lame crap and then, if you just happen to pull it off have to deal with being in cap hell for the next 5-10 years and your win being looked at as a potential fluke.

i think we are building the team the right way and we have the right foundation for a dynasty to happen. no way would i sacrifice what we have going on right now...even just the potential for a dynasty....for one of those one and done moments and then spend the next 15-20 years bragging aboutt that one moment that we were relevant.

oh....and the denver defense only stopped us because the refs let them do whatever the hell they wanted to do without consequences or fear of penalty.

our offense did enough to win that game. they were the only offense that scored that game. if the refs hadn't impacted the game the way they did, we would have won.

i will never give the broncos the credit for that win.

The Broncos already had a well built roster before they paid out big money to add the likes of Peyton Manning (elite QBs don't tend to hit the market), Talib, Ware, Sanders and co. Sure it's the mortgage their future approach but they've had four years with division titles, two Super Bowl appearances, and one Super Bowl win. That's a great return. Now sure it doesn't always work out that way, but it did for them, and my point is simple - what they've achieved is something we've not achieved [yet]. So while we may want to poke fun at their QB or cap situation, they have what we don't - Lombardi trophies.

So what's our bragging point... cap space? A franchise QB?

That's the two things we edge them on because the Broncos still have a very well built roster. If they can get a QB, or get game managing performances from Sanchez, they'll be ready to compete again next season. They are not in as bad a situation as people like to think they are.

Our bragging point is that we're built to contend for several years to come. I'll take that over having one Super  Bowl year to look back on for the next decade.

We can win a Super Bowl and still be in position to win another rather than having five years or more of crap to look forward to.

The idea is to be the Patriots. Not the Saints or the Bucs.

Fixed it for you.

The Panthers are the only ones to blame for the SB loss.  Cam was off, Remmers was exposed, Cotch couldn't Cotch, Tolbert accidentally used WD-40 instead of stickum, etc...

I'm not taking the easy way out on this one, the entire offense poo the bed.
