Not defending his judgement. Already covered that.

But I cannot get behind all this outrage over Marijuana to the point that we're just suspending this guy for a year over and over yet guys like Ray Rice only get suspended two games for beating his wife unconscious.

The whole thing stinks. If you claim moral superiority over one thing but not domestic violence or player safety then it's just white noise. That's what I'm getting at.

The domestic violence penalties being so weak were a travesty. No argument.

The only real rationale I can throw in to the extended drug penalties is that to get as far as the guys who get suspended 10 games or more, you have to have multiple violations. And those violations occur at a time when guys know they're going to be tested several times a month.

No, it's not the severity of domestic violence, but I have a hard time feeling much sympathy for guys like Gordon and Blackmon because to get where they are requires an incredible level of poor judgment and/or just plain stupidity.

They paddled their own boat.

We're talking about a sport where grown men get drunk just to watch a bunch of other men bash each others heads in.

We aren't talking about the financial industry.

I'll ask it again. What's more important?

Yes, we're talking about sports.

But we're also talking about professional LEAGUES which are BUSINESSES.

The NBA almost killed its business in the 1990's because of what you consider good innocent fun.  Then it got smart and has since made a huge comeback.

I don't care what you do in behind your own home's doors.  But if the REQUIREMENT OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT is something you can't manage to do, don't ask me to pity the poor poor idiot who can't do it.  No, he's not being kept down by The Man.  He's being kept down because he's an idiot.

I'd be interested to see how many of the people making a huge deal out of this also tried their best to blame Nicole Holder and paint her as a gold digger for what happened with Hardy back when he still played here. Hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Coincidentally enough, I think both Josh Gordon and Greg Hardy are HUGE idiots.  So, at least with regard to me, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Everyone here can point to an I-told-you-so. Everyone knew Gordon was a dumbass. Many of us just didn't know to what great extent his dumbassery would manifest itself.

I just don't get it. The way these guys seem to love grass, I suspect that they'd take pot before pussy.

I don't get it either. He can't and won't give it up. I know a few ppl like that, and yes, they'd pass up some a** for the grass.

I don't know where Gordon goes from here. He's cost himself millions and possibly his career. All he had to do was play 5-10 years, stack his bread up, and then he could smoke all day everyday. We all have our vices...hell im quite partial to brown liquor...but if my job told me I had a alcohol test coming up and I better pass it...you bet I'd quit.

Drug tests offer proof.  Not to mention there have been a longstanding set of rules regarding failed drug tests.  This is at least Gordon's 5th drug incident going back to college.  There was literally zero "rule book" in the Hardy situation.  It wasn't until AFTER the single he said/she said Holder incident that the league throws down the "gauntlet" of 6 games for a first time convicted DV offender (which never happened under the law of the great State of North Carolina (Esse Quam Videri) as our accused have the right to a jury of their peers).  The goalposts in the "game" were obviously moved during "play", in this case before a week 2 game against the Lions.

I do not think that weed is worse than DV, not at all.  But based on the precedent set in the Hardy situation, there's nothing stopping anyone from paying off a male or female "victim" to concoct a story to ruin that football team's plans and that person's life without ever seeing a jury of his peers.  At least in the drug case the crime and punishment are more cut and dry based on the test alone.

If one can't comply with rules/regulations/policy of said JOB/EMPLOYMENT, then he needs to be else where, and stop pursuing said job.

I love me some weed. Grew up in Alaska where the quality of the chronic it tops.

That being said, I've made a decision not to currently smoke at this point in my life. I have my reasons, and they are important to me. Does this mean I don't miss weed? Every frigging day!! It's called priorities. I'm not going to screw up my life over a lack of priorities.
