Trade down with the Jaguars...

If Norman is truly gone, I think we need to convince Jacksonville that there is someone they want at pick 30, so that they send us their second rounder (eight picks later at 38) and Davon House.

It is a simple, no nonsense trade that gets us back into the range of where most guys we are targeting would likely be going, and nets us a solid player/immediate starter at zone corner to replace Josh.

House was in the doghouse a bit last year because he was abused by DeAndre Hopkins (even got demoted to nickel at one point.) But, he is a solid zone corner and a great player. I think his contract averages about $6M for a couple years. He's young, and Jacksonville has an abundance of talent in the secondary.

It is a perfect situation, and a rainbow after the storm if something like this could happen.

How many times must people be told that trading out of the first is not a smart move because you lose the 5th year option. G-man will not trade down out of the first. Certainly not for a player who got demoted because he was beaten like a redheaded step child.

He stated that it was an option they would consider.

TBQH I feel like this draft class is pretty weak overall anyway. Sure, there are solid starters in there and that will be around in later rounds, but overall, from top to bottom, this year is just a really unimpressive crop of guys.

Never say never on the whole "5th year option" thing... I think that Gettleman is looking to the future, as he always does, but the now is important too. Especially when you can't predict the future. If the right opportunity presents itself, much like someone like the Jaguars wanting to move up a bit, you can bet your ass that we will take advantage of it any way we can, especially if you can land a good player and not lose much in way of your draft targets.

Player trades are of the rarer sort, anyway, and this thread was just speculation and firing out an idea... Don't take it so seriously. None of us knows what will happen in the coming week, just like none of us really saw Norman's tag rescinding coming, so STFU acting like you're an expert.

Googled Davon House.

First result was this article:

I just don't see it happening. Unless the trade includes a first next year, the 5th year option is just too much of an advantage. The other problem is that if they stockpile picks, then you will have more draftees than roster spots. The odds of multiple 5th, 6th, or 7th round players making the roster are slim this year, due to the fact that there are not really that many holes to fill. We did not lose a great quantity of players. Why trade for players that are not going to make it?

More likely scenario is that the Panthers can be this year's Panthers.
