You guys need to watch more tape of guys before the draft.

Yall cant start seeing guys for the first time on draft night and then turn around and offer any opinions.

Start watching videos of guys that are protected 3-6 rounders a couple of weeks before the draft. But do it this way.

With NO sound. You come up with your OWN assessment and this will help you see who the player reminds you off and understand their nuances.

This will actually help you to see talent more from a War Room perspective instead of spoon fed talking heads drivel.

When i would evaluate a kid in baseball and help their swing i would tell them to watch pro players in a game with the sound off and take notes. Removing the commentary helped them come to thier own conclusions and became a better player.

A few years back I had one of our resident nimrods argue me that they could evaluate a player just as well as an NFL guy because they had access to videos on the internet.

I'd like to think that was one isolated guy but watching the massive display of stupid that's going on in this forum, that view may be held by quite a few folks here.

My little brother is notorious for this poo. He loves the draft (don't we all), but then he'll be like damn bro I don't like this guy or damn that's a great pick and I'm like bro I don't think you've ever watched one down of college football in your life.

Honestly for a lot of these guys, with the exception of workouts and poo, the scouts basically only have YouTube videos.

Of course they know what they're looking at, unlike xxxCloudStrifePanthersFan420

I would go to the Shrine Bowls and my buddies would go right ro the programs and i didn’t want to know anything about a guy. Then during the game you would see who stood out. THEN i would ask my buddies so who is #24 or 99 is killing guys etc.

I love the youtube videos that show every play a guy had in a game. Those can actually be very insightful and they are what made me know Gabbert would be poo while Lord Mayock was declaring him better than Cam.

I love those.

"Highlight reel scouting" is a lousy way to evaluate a player. Everybody looks great when are you see are their good plays.

CloudStrife has a lot of scouting experience.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
