You dont Lose anything with the extra pick and with thev great Talent evaluation you have more opportunity to improve...thats Not hard to understand...well u It shouldn't Be...

Only 53 guys make the final roster, and most of those will be players returning from last year.

When there are only a few spots available, getting the best players you can for those spots is true "common sense".

Heel would rather have 4 hamburgers than one filet mignon.

To complete that analogy, you're only allowed three items and you already have a Chicken Kiev and a Leg of Lamb on your plate, yet you still order the four hamburgers knowing that you won't even get to eat three of them anyway.

I'm hungry now.

Yes and extra picks v give More chances and better Chances to fInd the best players...limited roster spots dont Really matter if you find a better player ...you keep the better players.Thats LiFe and the business side of the NFL...

That changes that analogy...it would fIt if the if the burgers came with the meal so You sent the lamb back to make iT certain you Get The burgers because you like them better.

But in the real world teams can bring in more and drop who they dont Want or need...more chances  to get v Better Players...

The wrinkle is that Carolina's talent floor is already high and TC/the preseason is not a huge amount of time to evaluate a rookie newcomer when compared to someone (Dean Marlowe, Wegher ,etc.) who has been around for a year and already has upside. Draftees above the 5th round or so often make the team based on a combination of performance and potential but don't always immediately improve the team overall, and when you already have young guys who have been around for an entire season and have already shown potential then why not roll picks together and invest in someone who has a better chance of raising the talent floor?

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
