Hide yo horses, hide yo saltpeter, hide yo iron ore because the best damn strategy game for the computer is BACK, BABY. Kiss that social life (what social life?) goodbye. Coming out October 21st.

I've been playing this game since Civi III and they just get better every time. Civi V was a bit different and a learning curve, but I still play it religiously. I didn't try the "CIVILIZATION IN SPACE" one though, it just kinda looked...meh. But VI will be an instant purchase for me.

unstacking units and making cities defendable changed the entire complexion of the game... i thought civ 3 would go down as goat but i think 5 wins it.

Here's an article about the differences between V and VI:

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/05/11/civilization-vi-details/

Quote

Civilization VI does to the city what Civilization V did to the military.

Beach refers to the new mechanic as “unstacking the cities”. “The unstacking of armies revolutionised the way the military side of the game played out and we’re making a similar change on the economic side of the game. Everything is now placed on the map, blowing the cities apart. All of the upgrades that you build are now spread across the landscape in the area of control of each city.”

This isn’t simply a cosmetic change, although it should make for urban landscapes much more visually varied than Civ V’s cities, so often surrounded by hexes thick with repetitive farms, trading posts and other improvements. The main purpose of the change is to encourage a stronger connection to the geography of your nation.

pretty brilliant.

Yeah 5 was great all around.  I think I actually started playing on Civ 3 also and it does seem to get better and better.  Not sure how much more they can add to it to be honest but I'm hoping they come up with some new ideas but keep a lot of the old concepts in place.

They made it look like a poo mobile game tbh.

every time i've seen graphic shots of a new civ i always think it looks like poo and then i play it and it's nothing like it was advertised. i think they always zoom in super far to show city detail for packaging but no one gives a fug about that when the game's actually running.

Is it too late for me to try and get into Civ? What's the learning curve like for noobs?

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
