Panthers Release Boykin

Man, I love the conspiracy theories!  Its getting rather Tenderbox-like in here!

I would think that there is something beyond his football acumen at play here.  I'm curious as to what he did to not even see the practice field.  There's no way not even the most egotistical GM (which many of you think is Gettleman) cuts guys so he can keep camp bodies.

Unless there are non-football factors.

We demand answers!

I may not be the 1st to demand, but ain't gonna read all 26 pages to find out.

The flip flopping on this board is something to behold. Boykin goes from hero to zero in the drop of a dime.

All I'm gonna say, for the people who keep bringing up rookies need to understand the transition from college to the NFL for a corner might be the hardest transition in all of football. No matter the pass rush

I'm a little curious as to why some of you hold on to this notion that Bene is a nickel?

He's not.  He played it because of Tillman, but was never really suited for it.  He plays outside much better than the slot.  You can see the difference between his rookie campaign and his sophomore season.

Also, you Gettle-detractors are getting as bad as the main-stream Cam haters.  You have nothing to go on other than your own wide-eyed accusations.  There is zero empirical evidence to back up your assumptions.  Until one of his strategies fail, I will defer to his judgement because he's been right so often.

PS: who in the actual fug was Boykin anyway?  Thought it was a solid signing but knew nothing of him.   Prime Time, he is not.

2014 could have used a lot more offensive firepower like maybe a guy who wore #89. We went 7-9 and beat a poo team in the playoffs.

Like the time he was content to play a season with the twin dumpster fires Byron Bell and Nate Chandler as our starters? Yeah, he definitely never had a strategy fail.

Oh people are so fast to forget the Chandler/Bell GMan idea.   I worry Norman combined with this release could be just as bad.  I hope not though, but GMan hasn't been mistake free either.

Oh good god, man.  Really?

1. He was NOT going to flush a draft pick down the toilet to please a bunch of pseudo-professional NFL Xbox experts by picking an OT he felt wasn't any better than the horrible ones he already had.

And 2. HE HAD NO MONEY TO SPEND IN FREE AGENCY.

So he tried to put a pretty bow on a turd. You act like he had millions of better choices.

It doesn't matter what you think, there's a plan and other unquantifiable cliches that don't actually convince anybody of anything but serve to play out the string and keep people from having to confront their actual thoughts on the decision to hand the reigns over to multiple rookies because of how they looked in gym shorts doing combine exercises.

Oh look at you!

Have your feelz been hurt by the big bad Godfather again?

Should he check with you first before he makes a move he considers to be in the long-term best interest of the roster it is his job to manage?

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
