I am smoking a giant pork butt. I am shooting off fireworks. I am playing in a golf tournament. I am drinking beer.

I don't know what I'll actually do on the 4th. Maybe rest, eat leftovers and walk maybe a mile to the park and see the town's fireworks display. That's one benefit of living downtown in a small town, I can walk to EVERY event that the town offers. My wife and I love it. 

Now, tomorrow, my wife's family will be having a cookout, as her 81 year old mama's in town from half way across the country in Kansas.

Just hamburgers, hotdogs and smoked sausages this year. Didn't want to deal with boiling chicken or ribs. But between the chili, chili and slaw we should be alright. Gonna have baked beans, potato salad and corn on the cob as well, and I'm talking the good stuff, not that bland, near tasteless crap some people call baked beans or potato salad.

I am not too much of a drinker like I used to be many many years ago, but I may have a Steel Reserve Hard Pineapple (don't judge me), a glass of Black River Red (delicious if you like  muscadine or scuppernong wine), or maybe a few glasses of  Sweet Red by Carlo Rossi which is surprisingly good if you like sweet red wine ($15 bucks for a jug at Walmart).

It's going to be like a mini family reunion at my sister-in-law's 2 acre spread out in the country. We will have at least two corn hole games going on, maybe some horse shoes and bocce ball, as well as  at least a couple of games of spades. We will top it all off with fireworks in the evening.

Laying in a hammock all day while the daughter or wife brings me beers. Might spend the night in it. who knows.
