Phil Loadholt retiring

Phil Loadholt has told the Vikings he plans to retire, a source confirmed.

Loadholt, 30, was placed on injured reserve in each of the previous two seasons, only playing in 11 of the team’s 32 regular-season games. In 2014, a torn pectoral ended his season after 11 games. In 2015, he tore his Achilles’ tendon during the preseason and was lost for the entire season.

Loadholt was back on the field for spring workouts and lined up as the first-team starting right tackle during practices open to the media. But after experiencing another injury-related setback in the past few weeks, the 6-foot-8, 345-pound tackle decided it was time to retire.

Loadholt, who took a pay cut in March to remain on the team, was slated to battle with free-agent addition Andre Smith to start at right tackle.

The Vikings drafted Loadholt in the second round in 2009 and he started right away. He missed just two games in his first five NFL seasons and was one of the NFL’s better right tackles before injuries derailed his career.

Loadholt has also been a respected voice in the Vikings locker room and a strong representative of the organization in the community.

ESPN first reported that Loadholt planned to retire from the NFL.

Better than both Remmers and Oher, just couldn't stay healthy.  A true Sooner.  Enjoy retirement, Phil.

I stand corrected. You and the girl that pretends to be a character from a TV show are the only ones posting non panther related poo on the main forum.

Damn, you still didn't pay attention?  It was some dude named Arsen.

And another thread was posted about Elliot by some MC guy.

So, yeah.  Not me and two other people.

And Jeremy posted about Greg Hardy.  So there's 3 other people.

He also posted about plain vs peanut M&M's.  But yeah, I'm the only one.  What a complete fail that is.

"I'm going to get butt hurt, and defend my OP that nobody gives a fug about, by pointing out that another poster (one much more respected than I),  posted about that idiot, Aldon Smith!!!

should I go back and edit it to "daily"? would that be more accurate?

Sure, checks activity.  Finds out he hasn't started a thread since Thursday, and before that July 19th.  So, wrong again.  Do you enjoy being wrong or something?

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
