Am I the only one concerned about Tolbert's fumbling problems? He can't block well, he gets stuffed at the 1 yard line, now if fumbles are going to be a problem of his then what's the point of keeping him?

He's had 1 fumble in 4 years as a Panther.

While I'm not asking that, I do think it's worth pointing out that although interior dline is considered one of the bigger adjustment positions from college to pros, both KK and Star flashed early and often as rookies from OTAs to rookie camps, mini-camps, and TC.

I haven't heard or read any reports of any positive impressions regarding Butler yet.  Yes, it's only a couple of days into camp, so he's got a lot of time to show something, but I've got the feeling that he isn't going to be much leverage in the KK negotiations.

Agree with your point about transition but there were plenty of positive impressions during minicamp and OTAs. The pads are what matter and it's silly to jump to conclusions at this point in time.

My apologies, I do now recall hearing that he looked really quick in one of the offseason camps, but it was clear it wasn't the same as KK's immediate impact.  I just would like to see some positives, regardless of the day of TC, if our first round pick is going up against a 3rd stringer in any 1v1 drill.

It's the first padded practice. You can't really tell how well dudes in the trenches play until the pads come on, and this is just the first of many. He's a rookie going up against vets who know what to expect. I'm not worried in the slightest yet.

Did you not watch the Super Bowl? He fumbled twice. Now he fumbles again. That's 3 times the last 2 times with pads.

I wouldnt tally fumbles in practice along with 2 from a game last season to establish a trend, but from reading your post, I can tell you this much...

It is crazy how much of that game i completely blocked out of my mind lol.

What did you expect from unpadded practices that are glorified 7-on-7 drills?

You're comparing Butler to Star and KK. When Star and KK came into the league we had just experienced a DT rotation of Terrell McClain, Sione Fua, Nate Chandler, Frank Kearse and our best was DT Dwan Edwards.

Also sounds like an stretch to say KK was "flashing early and often" or had an immediate impact if he started 0 games while Colin Cole started 13. Star was initially the more NFL ready player

for what it's worth star was getting ragdolled early in his first camp too.  it's still a pro vs. a rookie.

Your Kung Fu is weak college boy.

It's happening in every training camp.

I'm talking about the the impression he was making in practices initially.  Maybe the years are blurring together now, but i'm almost certain we were hearing a lot about his explosiveness and ability to shed blocks fairly early on, and that carried into his in-game appearances his rookie season as well, he was just biding his time behind Cole.

Lol, no i'm not.  I was mainly referencing Jeremy's tweet saying Butler was stonewalled by a 3rd string guard.  That's fairly cut and dry.  I know rookie interior lineman have a wall to climb, but i expect it more in the full scrimmages, not 1v1 drills.  I haven't made any final assessments of his ultimate projection as a pro, lol.  I simply said, in comparing what i've heard and read about him this offseason, I wouldn't count of him being much leverage in the KK negotations.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
