Stephen Hill - Injury, Tweek, Update?

I saw something about this in another thread, then caught this note on another site :

Quote
  • WR Stephen Hill spent a few minutes under the tent while a trainer looked at his surgically repaired knee. Hill eventually walked back onto the field, but this is the second time his knee has acted up this week. The sense inside the team is he's not close to the same player he was before the injury, which included three torn knee ligaments and a hamstring.

Can anyone provide any additional correspondence on this? I figured I'd have seen this here 1st since it's the first site I usually reference for updates.

The word between all of us Huddlers is that he's fine.  He tore three ligaments, which is pretty gnarly; I think KB only tore one.  It will take him longer to get back into it.  I think it's perfectly normal that he would have his knee looked at during practice.  Also, I wouldn't look into the bold portion too much.  He probably lost some speed, but he was already fast as hell, so he'll still be above average.

His injury was a lot worse than KB's, so it's going to take him more time to get back to 100%, if he even can.  IMO, Voth didn't even need to include that line, and I'm not really sure why he did.  Of course he's not close to the same player he was.  His knee exploded this time last year... that takes a hell of a lot longer than just an ACL.

He also responded to a tweet asking about Byrd, and his thought is it'd be redundant to have Philly, Ginn and Byrd on the squad. Meaning, if Byrd makes the squad it'll be at Philly's expense.

I saw that, and think it's a dumb comment as well.  They're going to keep the best receivers on the 53.  It would be pretty dumb to keep a lesser receiver, simply because he's "different" than Ginn/Philly.  Even if you only keep 5(KB/Funch/Ginn/Philly/Byrd), you can fill any role necessary with that group.  KB can play 1/2, Funch & Ginn can play all 3, Philly/Byrd can play 2/slot.  There's nothing that isn't covered, and you have all size/speed ranges to do any mixing/matching you want.

No way philly gets cut. Then who is the 5th receiver?

Its sad but I think he will be gone with the first round of cuts. we simply have no room for him. I kinda had this feeling last year, if you go back and see how badly he torn his knee up its no surprise that he will never be the same, and he was a player who relied on speed. I just hope for his sake he doesn't push his knee over the limit these next couple weeks.

Actually, every time I see Norwood in scrimmage video it seems to me he looks really really good. A stronger, younger, faster Cotchery.

Norwood as WR5 wouldn't surprise me a bit.

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
