Would the Panthers need to make room to keep Damiere?

Fortunately, there's no need to make a decision right now. Yet I continue to believe that we're only going to carry 5 receivers, especially since I get the impression we want more receiving options with the tight ends.

If I had to guess the 5th receiver, it will be Norwood edging Byrd and Hill because KB/Funch can be legitimate deep threats when covered by shorter corners. That and they thought highly enough of Norwood to use a draft pick to get him. I'm still not sure what exactly they see in him but if he's showing flashes of what the team believes he can be, then he may have the edge. Seeing Byrd win the spot wouldn't surprise me either. I am inclined to say that Hill's knee may be his undoing and that would be disappointing.

Hill reminds me of David Gettis.

Gettis had better hands than Hill.

In fact, Gettis probably still has better hands than any of the receivers on the team.

The front office clearly does not value the ability to catch the ball from the WR position. Been 4 off seasons of this sub par WR garbage. I still watch highlights of 2013 to remember what it was like to have receivers that could catch the ball.

You really are a miserable SOB. Gettis, the WR who got released by us, the Redskins, Buccaneers and Winnipeg Blue Bombers without recording a catch had better hands than any of the 2016 WRs? You fondly remember 2013 whose top 4 WRs were Smith, Olsen, LaFell and Ginn? Well, we still have Olsen and Ginn and I'd rather have Benjamin and Funchess than Smith and LaFell just based on LaFell being hot garbage. Only you would be down on the 2016 WRs.

Who is your favorite team? It's gotta be the Patriots since you bring them up a lot and no one other than a 2014 Pats fan would be fond of LaFell and only you would then ignore him falling apart again in 2015.

With his response I *finally* remember why CPK is such a bitter little pissant and irrational Gettleman-hater...

He's a Smitty fanboy.

QED.

Damiere has proven he deserves to be on this team. if he has even an above average preseason he needs to be the final WR. I say with feelings that I really wish Garrett would pan out and make the team as well.  I feel Hill and garrett with eventually be placed on the PS and probably taken by some sorry team which will most likely result in nothing.  Damiere should strive to help us out in the return game as his agility and speed is idol for PR and KR. Which will also help reserve Ginn's health.  My final WR would be: KB, Funch, Ginn, Philly, and Byrd.  I've hoped and prayed for Hill but im lost for words with him as of late (I know his been injured)

Look, I am on the Byrd train as much as anyone, and I hope that he does justify his hype during the games, but let's not forget about Norwood. He has had a solid camp by all accounts. I wouldn't think that Byrd and Norwood are specifically fighting for the same job, as their skill sets seem too different, but you never know.

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
