I've seen Ron Rivera get passionate before

Not often, I know.  He's usually Cool Ron, but I *have* seen Passionate Ron before.

I see him often defend his QBs behavior on and off the field.  I know Rivera supports Cam Newton.

But, dammit Ron, I'm really gonna need you to work up some damn passion about the shots your QB continues to take while the referees look the other way.  SOMEBODY at a level higher than the player and his teammates HAS to take a damned stand.

And I haven't seen it out of you... yet.

Carolina coach Ron Rivera said a couple of the shots Newton took "were unfortunate," but Rivera didn't want to take a hard line on what happened until after he reviewed film.

"We'll see," he said. "We've got to look at the tapes. I don't want to pass any judgment on that."

That ain't good enough, Coach.

I eagerly await some more passion for you in defense of your player.  And soon.

I pied because I feel like you're right, in that Ron really needs to get in somebody's ass about this.  However, he can't see everything from the sideline, and I think that's really the only answer he could have given, until he knows all of the facts.  I have a feeling that he may be pretty fired up about it, once he does see it from the perspective of the film, which is probably right now.

You're probably right.

But, dammit, like I said, I'm gonna need to see it.  And soon.

And I'm gonna need more than "We submitted the tape to the League for evaluation."

This poo needs to stop with teams trying to hurt Cam.  And it needs a LOUD voice with integrity to get it to stop.

That needs to be Coach Rivera.

I feel you 100% on that.

hes field level and doesn't have the luxury of seeing how egregious every hit was on replay like we do as fans.

I'll disagree, but I'll allow it.

Thomas Davis saw it.

Greg Olsen saw it.

How does the head coach standing as close to the action as anyone not an actual player on the field NOT see it?

The league has proven time and over again that it will only act when it feels the red sting of embarrassment growing warm across their cheeks and their precious shield collapsing in.

A private statement behind closed doors and a video compilation is not good enough. It will accomplish nothing. This has gone on too long.

Its time to start holding officials accountable for their failures.

I don't doubt he saw it but he can't address if publicly because there are still 15 games to go. Ron can't go blowing up the officials in week one after the biggest regular season game. He will lose all credibility with the officials moving forward

He answered it professionally which is what we need him to do. Hopefully he is lighting the league office up today behind closed doors.

You mean the officials that continually allow his QB to be brutalized?

How could it get any worse?

Why is everyone so hell-bent on seeing Ron come out and slam officials and the league? What good does anyone think is gonna come out of it? Officials are going to start being more lenient towards us? Because this is the first time a coach has had a go at officiating?

Because it needs to be done.  That's why we're so hell bent on it.  We want our QB to be protected, first and foremost, which is far from what we saw last night.  After that, we want our QB to be treated the same as every other QB in the league.  Is that not fair to Cam, and the team as a whole?  I honestly don't really care about the loss.  It sucks, but I'm over it.  It's not about getting calls in our favor, or officials being more lenient towards us.  It's about bringing much needed attention, to a very obvious issue that no other QB's are currently facing.

When Rivera says unfortunate he is really saying "It's complete bullshit, the ref's knew the hits were illegal and refused to throw the flag despite my conversations with them multiple times. I will not be discussing this with the media however I will be sending tape in regarding each instance of a Broncos player clearly targeting and attempting to use their helmet as a weapon with an attachment regarding their admission to the claim."

    • CeeDee Lamb got hurt in week 3. The Cowboys were rolling without him. Not sure what you meant by this. Our defense was the 1st to slow the Cowboys down some. Statistically before the game the Cowboys were ranked in the top 3 of the league.
    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
