Our last fourth-round pick that became a consistent starter was Frank Garcia... in 1995.

Considering all the 1st round (even top ten) picks you can list as 'busts', all draft picks can be considered a crap shoot. Trading a 'cross your fingers and hope 4th rounder' for a 3 time All Pro punter could be a pretty good move.

Yes, but don't be a DG apologist! He did make a mistake assuming that Scifres/Waters would do and honestly, we got lucky that the Browns traded for him. If he was on any other team other than fire sale, we likely couldn't have gotten him.

Maybe you shouldn't assume that he assumed. Options change with time, and there are always 'ifs'. If we hadn't sucked in 2010 we wouldn't have Cam.

He has 1 punt inside the 10 and 4 punts inside the 20.

The Panthers had 5 punts inside the 10 and 22 punts inside the 20 last year. If he can match that production by week 10, then he is worth the 4th round pick. If it takes him til week 15 or later to hit those marks, then he was not worth it.

Why are people acting like the Panthers never pinned a team inside the 10 with a punt last year?

Depends on how much we punt
