what more could he have done this offseason?

He could have kept Norman (yes, it was an option). He could have pursued any number of the players who were traded around the league for mid round draft picks. He could have been active in free agency before day 15 or whenever.

Who's to say he didn't pursue those players but the other team wasn't willing to deal? He kept the core of a super bowl roster together while letting a CB walk to get paid the highest contract at his position. He's thinking long term.

He's thinking long term, but our window is now. When Gettleman got here he said that with our cap situation we had to shop at Walmart, then Target, then once it's fixed we could shop at Tiffany's. Well, we went through the Walmart and the Target years, and now that he has near 30 million in cap space, he looked at Tiffany's and shrugged and went back to Walmart.

Norman didn't want to be here, do you really want a disgruntled Josh Norman?

Gettleman isn't a big trader, why would he start now after a super bowl appearance.

The last time the panthers were active in early free agency was 2011, so not being active in free agency wasn't new.

Our Safeties are bad. We knew this heading into the season. Coleman is physically weak, nothing special speed wise, and though he seems to know the defense and the coaches trust him to get everyone lined up, he's still making mistakes. Tre Boston takes bad angles of pursuit too often and vacillates between good anticipation and bad the entire game.

When you have corners who don't make enough plays, or way less than an average number of plays compared to other teams, then opposing teams are going to dink and dunk you with the pass. When you have good corners, it's stupid for an opposing team to use a lot of short passes to move the ball. Yes teams with HOF QBs dink and dunk, but it's a bad idea for most teams. Why? Good CBs will start to break on those passes. You're asking for INTs. But we dumped Norman, so we don't have that playmaker breaking on the ball for INTs.

This has led to the idea that we're not getting a good pass rush. RR is out there with a stop watch timing the pass rush. He likes the pass rush so far. Yes CJ and Kony are not that great, but the secondary is a much bigger concern. We had plenty of money to sign Norman, no problem, but instead we're way under the cap from what I understand. Doesn't really make sense.

He let Norman walk.  Could of tagged him, could of traded him, could of done something with him.  You don't build up an asset like Norman to just cut him.

He let him walk.  That caused him to draft clearly for need to try to fix the last minute debacle of the Norman situation.  Limited the impact the draft could have on our team.

Didn't upgrade at obvious areas of need and I am not talking about bringing in an all pro.

Norman did want to be here.  That isn't a debate.

    • Yep he made the comment " I dont know what they were doing out there at that point" in the press conference. Let's be real they all got paid but they also know his system suppresses there offensive potential.
    • Yup the casuals on Facebook ive gotten 85 laughing or angry emojis so far for pointing it out.  The amount of them throwing a fit because the canes were booed is insane
    • Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…).  I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play.    Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.
