4 Million Dollars Per Year

The difference in what we reportedly offered and what Josh ended up getting paid.  A lot of ya'll get pissed off at me for my "I told you so"'s, but for as much poo as I took during the whole Norman debacle, I got to give it back.  So, here it is...  I TOLD YOU.  The system didn't make Josh.  He was worth the money, and I said we would regret it.  I said Gettleman far too often appeared to get caught up in emotions and personal ego battles, and that in Josh's case, that appeared to rear its ugly head again.

I was lambasted for not toeing the company line and not blindly accepting every single move Gettleman made as the right one.  Now you see why I don't?  Just because they are professionals doesn't make them perfect or infallible.  Those same people who were mad at me for angrily speaking out about how the situation was handled were the same ones who hung onto and swore by Gettleman's every word.  He said he doesn't panic.  He said he doesn't draft for need.

BUT, He was anxious about KK leaving so he drafted ANOTHER FIRST ROUND DT, then he knew we had nothing behind Norman so he drafted Bradberry and then proceeded to waste three more picks (one included in a trade for Worley) on a couple of bums at CB in a desperate effort to replace Norman, one of which didn't even make the team and the other shouldn't be on the team.  That's four picks used to compensate for the loss of Norman and only one of them looks like a viable NFL prospect (Bradberry).  Oh, and if you didn't catch that, he wasn't exactly honest in his statements of not drafting for need or not panicking.  But hey, at least he got to swang some dick around in the media about what a badass he is.

"You know, they were willing to give Josh that kind of a deal. God bless them. For us, it was a matter of resource allocation. Everybody has to make decisions for their club.”

"What happens is you end up paying for other people's decisions," Gettleman said. "When I say paying, I'm not talking about a dollar amount."

"I'd like to think agents have figured out they can't scare me; they can't squeeze me. I'm not going to panic. I'm not going to give money away. It's a waste of time," Gettleman said. "But if that's the attack they want to take, that's their business. I'm too old. I've been around too long to be scared."

"I've seen too many mistakes made because people were afraid and people panicked."

Sounds like we have a regular damn Scarface on our hands here...

So here we are company yes men...  The boss isn't always right.  Now all we can do is sit back and enjoy the shitshow.  I don't remember ever seeing our secondary ever look so bad in the history of our franchise.  It's embarrassing.  So, in summary...  We are sitting here today, following a 15-1 season, an NFC Championship, a Superbowl run, at 1-3, with our FRANCHISE QB injured after getting the poo beat out of him for 4 weeks, KK Short unsigned, those "resources" we saved by not signing Josh to what he deserved still unallocated in any meaningful way, and a secondary that likely would be cut from arena league teams.

If you were set on keeping that money, you should've at least invested it in protecting our QB, shoring up the secondary with actual NFL-level talent, or any other number of things that weren't the lateral moves that you made in their stead.

FOUR MILLION DOLLARS.  Gettleman...

Dude it's not like people even felt the need to give him a longterm contract

he was already on the roster for this season. all we had to do was let him play out the year while Bradberry actually got a chance to learn the position.

He is not here because Gettleman wanted to send a message. Its literally nothing beyond that.

Just now, TheRumGone said:

Not saying josh wouldn't perform at a high level.  But we have ZERO pass rush in the first half. Matt had all damn day to throw it was embarrassing.

they've been eating us up with the slant the entire second half

True, trust me I know we would be better with josh this year. But the pass rush needs to improve for us to have a chance going forward.

we are seriously a horrible team right now

please tell us how le'raven clark and shon coleman are doing at OT this year. is germain ifedi even playing OT? how is emmanuel ogbah doing right now? how about kendall fuller and xavien howard?

what were the right picks this year? should we have drafted hunter henry who singlehandedly ended the game for the chargers last week?

we traded up for worley, not bradberry. get over yourself with the i told you so's. it would be good to have josh right now but you're basically saying lets trade out one bad year this year instead of one bad year next year. we're making talent choices every year that will impact the next. josh gets the redskin's contract here, we lose talent next year and we're wishing we could keep them all again.

congrats on hanging your hat on this blowout game. we've been in a position to be 3-0 coming into today. we didn't execute on the field. cam is playing slow and the league has basically made it clear that hitting him in the head will be allowed. now the headshots will be coming all year and our players are reined in be the 2 penalty ejection rule.

An "I told you so" thread from a freaking moderator?  Good grief....Igo needs a minimum age limit older than 12 to be a mod in this joint.

This guy does this poo all the time. He also loves petty pissing matches with anyone who will oblige. I stopped reading his posts months ago.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
