What is wrong with this DEFENSE on earth?

Is it because of lack good DB? We lost Tillman, Norman and Harper and we collapse like this?!

Our front seven should not be so bad as they just lost Jared Allen, KK is there, Star is there, Johnson is always the old man who flashes after week 10, Ealy is the only change and now we bring ZERO pressure to the other quarterbacks.

Seriously, how can we be so bad on D? Not only the Panthers are starting rookies at CB, why we just suck?

Or is it because of coaches? Sean is a good DC and I thought he had good plan to help our rookies but I haven't seen that yet.

Our defense is so pathetic.

The whole secondary is playing bad

Mcdermott needs vets for his secondary to work, but all youth its going to be bad. Even Norman struggled for a while

I think that's a knock on McDermott and his system. It seems quite complex

You cannot blame SMcD when our #1 corner today was Teddy Williams.  He wouldn't even be on the 53 of most teams in the league.

The Front 4. They are not generating enough pressure or sacks. KK and Star are not collapsing the pocket or stuffing the run, allowing OL to get to Luke and Thomas Davis. Kony and CJ literally can not beat opposing teams 2nd string lineman, therefore we are blitzing more safeties and linebackers, leaving the young corners exposed with no safety help. Also the chemistry and communication is just not there between the LB,S, and CB. I have seen two players covering the same area.

I'm not blaming him, but I do think thats a knock on his defense that young guys struggle in his system. There's no plug and play here

But since thats what it is, why is there no vet corner backs. Thats on ron and dave

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
