If we get rid of Olsen, then we will have ZERO passing game.  Therefore, we can focus all the attention on Tolbert and Cam won't have to worry about holding the ball and getting hit from his blind-side.  Just keep feeding the rock to the butterball.  Boom.

or maybe vernon butler is coming back in two weeks and they need some better blockers on the offensive line

After scoring 38 points and having both Olsen and Dickson involved heavily in the game, they get rid of a contributor in favor of some scrub TE?

Maybe they are tired of seeing Cam get lit up and he can block well?

I like Edwards too but outside of one sack it's not like he's been some dominant force. My guess would be they've decided Wes Horton is sufficient for the rotation.

Is everybody so desperate for a savior that we're really wailing and gnashing our teeth over the fourth defensive end?

Butler is a backup DT.  Not a rotational DE. 

People need to get away from this notion that Gettlemen's DTs somehow are the answer for everything

he's a body on the defensive line and it's not as if the Panthers are in any position to be picky. KK lined up at DE all the time last year, and I'd rather have a first round DT than some rotational nobody at DE.

I'm lost with this one.  i think Edwards has done enough to warrant more playing time not being cut.

we don't have a wealth of DEs so we cut one and bring back a TE that no one else wanted that could not catch a pass to save his soul in preseason  

byrd showed promise in preseason and he is waived 

I just don't get it
