Now is the time for ALSHON

I see a bunch of talk about us being deep at WR but honestly, we're not.  We are average heavy.  Our crew is so nothing, it's not even worth talking about.  I'd take Miami's situation there over ours.

Now, yes, we need safeties, CBs, DEs, TEs, OTs, FBs (and a kicker) but I still think WR is a need and trading for Jeffrey would light a fire under Mario Addison bunghole.

Stimey me cricken...I've got a liken for a wideout

I cannot believe I am about to say this. I agree with @GoobyPls. Even though he is only halfish right. He is correct that we don't need Mr. Jeffries. As we don't need WR help this year, the Smith reference was a bit superfluous.  Hence, the part where he is not right.

Also, with all due respect Mr. OP, but the only 3 position groups you left out were QB, RB, and LB. Out of those groups. Who could you trade to get Alshon?

So I guess the only question remaining is; How is this Gman's fault?

Nah I'm right, your wrong. We have needed WR help since 2011 (especially a legit deep threat), but this front office has been hell bent on drafting defense and never signing free agent receivers for some odd reason.

Liar liar pants on fire. We have signed a poo ton of FA WRs.

In the last two years we have spent a 1st and a 2nd on WR. We have to give them time to develop. You don't rush to judgment on that high of a pick. Bringing in a vet disrupts that.

The past belongs in the past. And there is no reason why this years group of WRs cannot be effective. IMO, we have to wait until the Offense gets its act together, before we can truly judge what we have at WR.

Now if at the end of the year, we still have questions? Then let's address them at that time. Let's just not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

No we haven't, we sign receivers no other teams want.

That's two receivers in 6 years of drafting. That's last among NFL teams. And when you're second round receiver is getting out produced by 4th and 5th rounders and rookies, he might not be the answer. Usually the good receivers show flashes their first season.

Alshon Jeffery has a huge catch radius, super hands, and can adjust to the ball in the air better than perhaps better any reveiver in the game. Any team needs that, especially us.

The question with him is health, but when on the field, he is really an elite reveiver in the league, and his numbers prove it.

All that being said, everyone knows that we'll never get him.

Not only was Funchess efficient on limited snaps last season, but he also put up around 120 yards on seven receptions and eight targets against the Bucs last season, and yet you deny he "flashed." And you keep erroneously referring to him as our WR2, as he has yet to get any consistent playing time in that role. Stop hating, and give the guy a fair assesment. He hasn't had the playing time, nor the focus of Cam, regardless of your observations and opinions.

Oh watch out he had 100 yards against the Bucs. You know who also has had 100 yard games Dave Gettis, Lafell, Philly ext....

I don't get swayed by one game. You are clearly avoiding the fact he is one the worst production per snaps WR in the league. Blame Cam, blame coaching, blame the scheme blame everyone but Funchess for all I care. Funchess is still that same question mark from Michigan that every UofM fan said "why isn't he better"

    • Would be happy with Lomu or Iheanachor at 19. Fano is intriguing but I don't think he makes it.
    • II see it this way: We have to look at long-term needs and current depth.  We have filled some key spots with players on one-year contracts.  I firmly believe that they intend to pay Bryce some big bucks next year.  That means you cannot hope that your rookies in 2027 can fill the spots vacated by the veterans you could not afford to re-sign.   We need to consider the cap and the fact that the need to start a rookie is not viewed as a positive by coaches and general managers, but they value first contracts--so it is a delicate balance. I think they have to look at the cap by position--"Can we afford a $50m QB and a $100m OL?  That is half the cap, before you pay your WRs and RBs and TEs.  They need to start getting younger on the OL as well.   I am not suggesting that we draft OT in round 1, but we could and I would get it.  RT on a 1-year deal, they may have intel about Ickey (who was not the best LT, to be honest) and 32-year old Moton is on a bad wheel.   Now if you go by Morgan's history, you can almost tell what position we are going to address with the first pick by noting the positions he has not focused on in free agency.  DT, considering the lack of performance by those not named Derrick Brown and the loss of Robinson, is screaming to be addressed with a top player.  Wharton is not an early down DT (DE if you want to get technical) and our LBs need to be clean--they were not in 2025.  Look for a DT early. I also think we will address ILB (pass covering Will) on day 2.  The other day 2 pick will be an OT, in my view. Do not rule out CB.  We are thin there too, and Jackson is in his final year.  I am not sure that we love Smith-Wade.  Some crackhead on here talked about moving him to S----stay tuned.   Hopefully, a team wanting Ty Simpson will move up and offer us a pick or two to move back. DT WILB OT OC QB  (you heard it here 337th--but this pick could come sooner than you think.
    • Bryce had some bad games, but he had some good ones as well (and this is coming from a Bryce skeptic). I think it's a little simplistic to put all the offensive woes on Bryce, you also should be looking at O-line play, receiver play, RB and TE play, and also coaching. There's no way when I look at the offense in it's totality am I ready to say that a so-so to bad offense was all on Bryce, and, I also can't say that we don't need to upgrade any position on offense, save Tetairoa McMillan (who also wasn't perfect) and maybe the starting guards and T-mo.
