His current deal was 5 years/$67.5M.  Cap hit for this year is $13.4M.  Next year it is $14.4M?  I don't know as much as I should about trades, but would a restructure be in the works?  How could Carolina frame this trade to avoid the high cap hit, especially with a player that has shown so little this season (I understand he has a "supposed" groin injury).

You take the cap hit essentially.  You can restructure to push the hit back or try to extend him but why would he take less money?

It seems like the people that want this trade only know about Haden by name and not by his play the past few years.

He's expensive, injury prone, and regressed significantly the past few seasons. I'll pass unless it's for like a 6th or 7th rounder, the Browns eat the Cap hit, and he restructures for the future.

We would only get the salary and workout bonus portion of his deal as the cap hit. The Browns would take all of the prorated bonus onto their cap so his cap hits if traded would be $10.2M in 2016(about half this to us since he's already gotten 8 of 17 weeks pay), $11.2M in 2017, $11.2M in 2018 and $10.5M in 2019 with only his 2016 salary being guaranteed.

Honestly, there is a pretty good chance he gets cut after the year.

Lol, let's completely ignore the fact he has been playing for the browns.

I don't really see what playing for the Browns has to do with it. He was really good on the Browns for several years and now he is not very good on the Browns. Logical conclusion is that it's him and not the Browns that are the cause for his poor play.

How did our stars look during our 5 dysfunctional losses this season?  Their entire culture has been like that for years...  i'm not saying it has nothing to do with Haden himself, it does.  But they have had a lot more turnover on the defensive side of the ball in the last few years and changes in staff as well.  He has also suffered some injuries.  All of that considered, i think its unfair to say he is washed up and done.  He isn't even that old, so a lot of those surrounding factors must be playing a role in his play, i.e. playing for a horrible organization.

Regardless, i didnt realize his cap number was that high considering his extension was signed a while back...  seeing how much he is making definitely makes it look like an impossibility, and a lot less attractive.

I really dont get the obsession with Haden on here. Guessing most here havent realky caught many highlights from the Browns.  Haden has fallen off, even though he was injured last season, when he played it was just like Revis this year.  He hasnt looked like the old Revis this year either.  And on top of that we'd still have to pay his big contract, you could kiss any chance of resigning KK, Turner, and Norwell goodbye.

It seems the people that think people know Haden by his name and not his play have bought into a narrative put forth by people who feel the need to rationalize why this team never makes significant moves to bolster the talent on the field. For instance, there's certainly not an intelligent poster here who wouldn't want one of PFFs highest rated CBs on the year and his multiple Pro Bowl pedigree.

This board has a long tradition of wanting to trade premium picks for guys that used to be good.
