Tavon Austin is definitely our biggest matchup this game on offense and special teams. But the matchup i'm excited for is Trai Turner and Andrew Norwell vs Aaron Donald.

Tavon Austin is terrible. I'm more worried about Kenny Britt

Aaron Donald vs Kalil's backup.  They better not pull a Remmers/Von Miller gameplan for this.  We have already seen a bad offense can beat us (good verison of us) if we allow one lineman to be utterly dominated by a stud.

If you think the backup C is going to go one on one against their best DT,  then what exactly do you think the OGs are going to do?? Just hang out?

Do you not know who Kalil's backup is? Honestly, from what I've seen (even though it looks like Kalil is playing), Gino Gradkowski has been our best backup OL. I remember the training camp where Kalil hurt his shoulder going against TD* and Gradkowski played a lot in the preseason (started week 1 and 4) and looked solid and he's got over a season of starting experience.

* I saw this during training camp (@8/3?). Kalil was pissed. They worked on him and TD came over and Kalil still wasn't happy. I was worried it was something more, but I'm pretty sure that his shoulder's been an issue since then. He missed the first preseason week.

Probably has been just like Cam's ankle. I would not be surprised if both don't get the knife after the season .

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
