A little perspective...

Need to get use to the fact that Oher is our LT, until a truly good one falls to us in the draft.

Unless something unforeseen happens.

We don't necessarily need a LT and LT don't fall to winning teams in the draft.

We can't upgrade from Gano mid-season, but he better have legit competition in camp next year. He's been very inconsistent this season and downright awful in clutch situations.

This was the knock on Gano in WAS. He could hit 50 yarders all day long, and then miss a 30 yarder to win the game.

S*** happens basically. Last year we got some good breaks, and this year not so much so far. But we keep winning and going one game at a time and this ship will be righted. We are already half way out of the hole and back to .500 . Just gotta keep it up.

We got a nice lucky break in the refs not being able to call back that Thomas Davis fumble recovery for a touchdown against the Cards.  (replay system not working...!)  I'm really hoping we'll be able to look back on the season and see that as the spark that ignited the second half of our season and led to great things.  I even tweeted about this at the time.

Very hopeful that this kind of good break will be a season-changer.

It does not matter.

The real lesson is the offense and kicker should never be put in a comeback situation in the 2nd half - especially the 4th quarter.

In the Broncos game, the Panthers had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter.

In the Bucs game, the Panthers had an 8 point lead late in the 3rd quarter.

In the Saints game, the Panthers dug out of a 1st quarter hole to erase the Saints lead with 3 minutes remaining in the game.

In the Vikings game, the Panthers gave up their 2nd half lead and lost all momentum.

The defense completely let the Falcons game get away from them.

When an offense has a lead in the 2nd half it must not be given up by the defense. The Panthers have won 116 games when leading at the half. They have only won 1 game in their history when leading at the half and giving up the lead going into the 4th quarter.

If that does not hammer home the importance of a defense not giving up a lead in the 2nd half, then nothing will. The offense and kicker really do not matter if the defense can not hold a lead in the 2nd half.

These numbers are similar across the league.

The Panthers have won a total of 169 games in their history to give you perspective.

You gave out, I mean hurney gave out,  the dumbest contracts in the league

You can not blame everything on Hurney. Very telling.

Blaming Hurney for contracts handed out in 2014. Come on!

You can thank Gettleman for over paying kickers and punters.

You can have Graham Gano, Andy Lee and Paul Soliai

or

you can have Connor Barth, Ryan Quigley, Kyle Love and Josh Norman.

All for the same 2016 cap hit.

Gettleman chooses an overpaid kicker, punter, and DT, because a punter is always valuable when you do not have a secondary to keep an offense pinned following the punt.
